To investigate the effect of adenovirus-mediated short hairpin RNA (shRNA) downregulating SH2 domain-containing protein tyrosine phosphatase 2 (SHP2) on the apoptosis of human hepatic stellate cells LX-2 cultured in vitro. The recombinant adenovirus Ad-shRNA/SHP2 carrying shRNA targeted SHP2 and expressing green fluorescent protein (GFP), and the empty control virus Ad-GFP expressing GFP were transfected into LX-2 cells cultured in vitro. This study presents a straightforward efficient technique for extracting circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and a rapid one-step electrochemical method (45 min) for detecting lung cancer A549 cells based on the specific recognition of mucin 1 using aptamers and the modulation of Cu electrochemical signals by biomolecules. The CTCs separation and enrichment process can be completed within 45 min using lymphocyte separation solution (LSS), erythrocyte lysis solution (ELS), and three centrifugations. Besides, the influence of various biomolecules on Cu electrochemical signals is comprehensively discussed, with DNA nanospheres selected as the medium.

In this article, we review both experimental and theoretical studies of optical properties such as optical conductivity, dielectric function, non-linear optical response, and plasmons in moiré structures composed of graphene, hexagonal boron nitride (hBN), and/or transition metal dichalcogenides.

In this study, a 3D model of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) with crossed channels and an ultra-thin membrane is developed to investigate the feasibility of self-humidification; experiments utilizing a PEMFC stack with identical configurations are conducted to validate the simulation results and further investigate the effects of various operating conditions (OCs) on self-humidification. The results indicate that the crossed flow channel leads to enhanced uniformity of water distribution, resulting in improved cell performance under low/no humidification conditions. External humidifiers for the anode can be removed since the performance difference is negligible (≤3%) between RHa = 0% and 100%.

Mixed legacy and emerging per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) are commonly found in soil and dust; however, the potential toxicity of PFAS mixtures (mPFASs) in insects is unknown. Using 16S rRNA gene sequencing and transcriptome sequencing (RNA-Seq), we evaluated the adverse effects of mPFASs on silkworms, a typical lepidopteran insect. This study focused on the preparation of a highly efficient activated carbon adsorbent from waste cation exchange resins through one-step carbonization to remove ciprofloxacin (CIP) from aqueous solutions.
