Breast Carcinoma With Tubulopapillary Features Has a Distinct Immunophenotypic and Molecular Signature: A Report of Two Tumors and Literature Review.

Breast carcinoma with tubulopapillary features is a newly described entity associated with poor prognosis with only 14 tumors reported in the literature. We report 2 additional tumors and identify novel immunohistochemical and molecular features of the tumor. The first tumor was from a 72-year-old woman with nonmetastatic breast carcinoma and the second was from a 32-year-old woman with metastatic breast carcinoma who received neoadjuvant therapy.

Association between triglyceride-glucose index and bone mineral density in US adults: a cross sectional study.

Objective: Disorders in glucose and lipid metabolism have been shown to exert an influence on bone metabolism. The TyG index, which combines measures of glucose and triglycerides, provides insights into the overall metabolic status. However, the investigation of concurrent disturbances in glucose and lipid metabolism and their specific implications for bone metabolism remains limited in the existing research literature.

Construction of 5-methyleneoxazolidine-2,4-diones bearing modifiable halogen groups through a halopalladation strategy.

Based on a halopalladation strategy, we successfully developed a haloesterification reaction of propargylic amides to synthesize a diverse range of 5-(halomethylene)oxazolidine-2,4-diones. This reaction demonstrates good yield and compatibility with various functional groups. Notably, the halogen atoms present in the resulting products can be readily substituted by other functional groups, highlighting the versatility and appeal of this method.

α2-Macroglobulin Promotes Chondrocyte Proliferation and Cartilage Matrix Synthesis via Inducing PCNA.

Objectives: α2-Macroglobulin (A2M) can prevent cartilage degeneration by blocking many types of cartilage-degrading enzymes, but the mechanism remains to be clarified. This study aimed to test that A2M protects against cartilage degeneration by promoting chondrocyte proliferation and cartilage matrix synthesis via inducing proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA).

Design: The cartilage degeneration of the anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT) model was evaluated by Safranin O-fast green staining, and articular cartilage degeneration was graded using the Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI)-modified Mankin criteria.

The influence of preoperative urodynamic parameters on clinical results in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia after transurethral resection of the prostate.

Purpose: To identify the urodynamic parameters affecting the clinical outcomes of transurethral resection of the prostate(TURP) surgery for patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia(BPH) by multifactor analysis and establish a regression model with diagnostic values.

Methods: The medical records of patients who underwent TURP surgery for BPH between December 2018 and September 2021 were collected from the urology department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University, Kunming, China. The patients' clinical data and urodynamic parameters were collected before surgery.

Single basolateral amygdala neurons in macaques exhibit distinct connectional motifs with frontal cortex.

Basolateral amygdala (BLA) projects widely across the macaque frontal cortex, and amygdalo-frontal projections are critical for appropriate emotional responding and decision making. While it is appreciated that single BLA neurons branch and project to multiple areas in frontal cortex, the organization and frequency of this branching has yet to be fully characterized. Here, we determined the projection patterns of more than 3,000 macaque BLA neurons.

FBXO7 Confers Mesenchymal Properties and Chemoresistance in Glioblastoma by Controlling Rbfox2-Mediated Alternative Splicing.

Mesenchymal glioblastoma (GBM) is highly resistant to radio-and chemotherapy and correlates with worse survival outcomes in GBM patients; however, the underlying mechanism determining the mesenchymal phenotype remains largely unclear. Herein, it is revealed that FBXO7, a substrate-recognition component of the SCF complex implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease, confers mesenchymal properties and chemoresistance in GBM by controlling Rbfox2-mediated alternative splicing. Specifically, FBXO7 ubiquitinates Rbfox2 Lys249 through K63-linked ubiquitin chains upon arginine dimethylation at Arg341 and Arg441 by PRMT5, leading to Rbfox2 stabilization.

Triphosgene and Triphenylphosphine Oxide-Mediated Cascade Heterocyclization of -Acylated Anilines: One-Pot Synthesis of 2,4-Dichloroquinolines.

A one-pot cascade chlorination/heterocyclization strategy has been developed for the synthesis of 2,4-dichloro-substituted quinolines from acylated anilines using triphosgene and triphenylphosphine oxide. Obviating the conventional harsh conditions of chlorination, synthetic useful quinolines with moderate to good yields were obtained through this reaction. The mechanism study exhibited that the formation of a β-enamine intermediate plays a vital role in the generation of the final product.

Background: Pressure ulcer is a severe disease in the paralyzed and aging populations. Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) are able to regulate ulcer healing by modulating angiogenesis, but the molecular mechanism is still obscure. Sonic hedgehog (SHH) signaling contributes to angiogenesis in various diseases and has been identified to modulate EPCs function.

Prognostic impact of reduced HER2 protein expression in post-neoadjuvant therapy resection specimens: A single institution experience and review of the literature.

Background: Retesting for Human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER2) in post-neoadjuvant therapy resection is variable, and data is conflicting regarding the prognostic significance of changes in HER2 expression pre and post therapy.

Methods: We identified 104 patients with localized HER2 IHC 3+ breast cancer who received neoadjuvant trastuzumab(T)/pertuzumab(P) containing chemotherapy at Yale Cancer Center between 2012 and 2022. Patients were divided into 3 cohorts by response and HER2 IHC in the residual disease: Cohort 1 pathologic complete response (pCR), Cohort 2 pre-treatment IHC 3+/post treatment IHC 1+/2+, and Cohort 3 pre-treatment IHC 3+/post-treatment IHC 3+.

Design, Synthesis, and Ultrafast Carrier Dynamics of Core-Substituted Naphthalene Diimide-Based Covalent Organic Frameworks.

A series of two-dimensional polyimide covalent organic frameworks (2D COF) based on core-substituted naphthalene diimides (cNDIs) were designed and synthesized with the characteristic of tunable bandgap without global structural changes. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and DFT calculations indicated that COF and COF possess higher HOMO/LUMO levels and narrower bandgaps than COF. Further investigation indicated that the COF bandgaps are not only related to the electron-donating substituents but also varied with respect to the interlayer distances.

Contactless bubble manipulation with a high spatiotemporal resolution brings a qualitative leap forward in a variety of applications. Despite considerable advances, light-induced bubble maneuvering remains challenging in terms of robust transportation, splitting and detachment. Here, a photopyroelectric slippery surface (PESS) with a sandwich structure is constructed to achieve the versatile bubble manipulation.

New radiofrequency ablation procedure for selective reduction in complicated monochorionic twin or triplet pregnancy using multistep, incremental expansion technique.

Objective: Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is the preferred approach for selective reduction in complex monochorionic (MC) multiple pregnancies owing to the ease of operation and minimal invasiveness. To optimize the RFA technique and reduce the risk of adverse pregnancy outcome resulting from the heat-sink effect of RFA therapy, we used an innovative RFA method, in which an electrode needle was expanded incrementally and stepwise. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety profile of this novel multistep incremental expansion RFA method for selective fetal reduction in MC twin and triplet pregnancies.
