CeO/ZnO-heterojunction-nanorod-array-based chemiresistive sensors were studied for their low-operating-temperature and gas-detecting characteristics. Arrays of CeO/ZnO heterojunction nanorods were synthesized using anodic electrodeposition coating followed by hydrothermal treatment. The sensor based on this CeO/ZnO heterojunction demonstrated a much higher sensitivity to NO at a low operating temperature (120 °C) than the pure-ZnO-based sensor.

Inspired by the alveolar configuration, an alveoli-like ZSM-5 and the corresponding platinum encapsulated nanocomposite (Pt@PZ5) were fabricated a dual-template method and a controlled selective desilication-recrystallization strategy. The dimensions of the central cavity, interconnected zeolitic vesicles, and mesoporous shell could be tuned by adjusting the synthesis parameters, as verified by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, nitrogen physisorption investigations, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction techniques. Thanks to these properties and merits, the alveoli-like Pt@PZ5 showed the highest catalytic performance with excellent stability, obtaining 100% benzene conversion at 180 °C.

Here we report for the first time the regio- and diastereoselective [3+2] annulation of a wide range of aliphatic aldimines with alkenes via the activation of an unactivated β-C(sp )-H bond by half-sandwich scandium catalysts. This protocol offers a straightforward and atom-efficient route for the synthesis of a new family of multi-substituted aminocyclopentane derivatives from easily accessible aliphatic aldimines and alkenes. The annulation of aldimines with styrenes exclusively afforded the 5-aryl-trans-substituted 1-aminocyclopentane derivatives with excellent diastereoselectivity through the 2,1-insertion of a styrene unit.

Compared with red and green organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), blue is the bottleneck that restricts the wide development of OLEDs from being the next-generation technology for displays and lighting. As a new type of emitter, a Ce(III) complex shows many satisfactory advantages, such as a short excited-state lifetime, 100% theoretical exciton utilization efficiency, and tunable emission color. An efficient formal (3 + 1 + 1) carboannulation strategy of Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) carbonates with pyridinium ylides was developed for constructing diversely functionalized spiro-cyclopentadiene oxindoles. Efficient molecular oxygen activation is crucial for catalytic oxidation reaction, but highly depends on the construction of active sites. In this study, we demonstrate that dual adjacent Fe atoms anchored on MnO can assemble into a diatomic site, also called as MnO-hosted Fe dimer, which activates molecular oxygen to form an active intermediate species Fe(O = O)Fe for highly efficient CO oxidation. These adjacent single-atom Fe sites exhibit a stronger O activation performance than the conventional surface oxygen vacancy activation sites.

Polypyrimidine tract-binding protein (PTB) is an RNA binding protein existing both as dimer and monomer and shuttling between nucleus and cytoplasm. However, the regulation of PTB dimerization and the relationship between their functions and subcellular localization are unknown. Here we find that PTB presents as dimer and monomer in nucleus and cytoplasm respectively, and a disulfide bond involving Cysteine 23 is critical for the dimerization of PTB.
