Introduction: Docetaxel (DTX) has been proven as one of the most important cytotoxic agents, and its clinical efficacy against many cancers is superior to paclitaxel. DTX in commercial formulation contains the non-ionic surfactant Tween 80 (polysorbate 80) and 13% ethanol; the side effects caused by DTX and the solvent have considerably limited its clinical use. In recent decades, the emergence of nanoformulations provides new modes of actions in DTX.

Ternary phase diagrams were constructed in order to obtain the most efficient self-emulsification region, and the formulation of apigenin loaded SMEDDS was optimized by a simplex lattice experiment design. The optimal formulation of SMEDDS obtained was comprised of 60% Cremophor(®)EL, 30% Transcutol(®)HP and 10% Capryol™ 90.

To elucidate the role of age-related epigenetic changes in healthy ageing and potential longevity, we tested for association between whole-blood DNA methylation patterns in 172 female twins aged 32 to 80 with age and age-related phenotypes. Twin-based DNA methylation levels at 26,690 CpG-sites showed evidence for mean genome-wide heritability of 18%, which was supported by the identification of 1,537 CpG-sites with methylation QTLs in cis at FDR 5%.

Its expression is significantly reduced in some hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC). In this study, we aimed to investigate the correlation of reduced ASL expression and clinicopathologic features and prognosis in HCC patients.

This study aimed to investigate the correlation of LAPTM4B genotype with prognosis and clinicopathologic features in patients who have undergone resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Methodology/principal Findings: The LAPTM4B genotype was analyzed by PCR in 68 patients who had undergone curative hepatic resection for hepatocellular carcinoma.
Experiments were conducted to examine of nitrobenzene reduction by steel convert slag (SCS) with Fe(II) system. The results showed SCS with Fe(II) was an effective reductant for nitrobenzene at pH 5.5-6.

We conducted a meta-analysis of genome-wide association studies in 39,883 individuals of European ancestry to identify genes associated with metabolic disease. We identified 8 novel loci associated with adiponectin levels and confirmed 2 previously reported loci (P = 4.

Methods: Multi-centered cases series. Data were collected from 176 patients aged ≥ 40 years with PACG who were participated in a randomized clinical trial that aimed at addressing the efficacy of augmented releasable sutures after trabeculectomy.
We describe herein the development of a matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time-of-flight-mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) approach for screening of protein kinase inhibitors (PKIs). MS quantification of phosphopeptides, the kinase-catalyzed products of nonphosphorylated substrates, is a great challenge due to the ion suppression effect of highly abundant nonphosphorylated peptides in enzymatic reaction mixtures. To address this issue, a novel type of titania coated magnetic hollow mesoporous silica spheres (TiO(2)/MHMSS) material was fabricated for capturing phosphopeptides from the enzymatic reaction mixtures prior to MS analysis.

Methods: Ternary phase diagrams were constructed in order to obtain the most efficient self-emulsification region, and the formulation of curcumin-loaded SMEDDS was optimized by a simplex lattice experiment design. Then, three lipophilic folate derivatives (folate-polyethylene glycol-distearoylphosphatidylethanolamine, folate-polyethylene glycol-cholesteryl hemisuccinate, and folate-polyethylene glycol-cholesterol) used as a surfactant were added to curcumin-loaded SMEDDS formulations.
To newly identify loci for age at natural menopause, we carried out a meta-analysis of 22 genome-wide association studies (GWAS) in 38,968 women of European descent, with replication in up to 14,435 women. In addition to four known loci, we identified 13 loci newly associated with age at natural menopause (at P < 5 × 10(-8)). Candidate genes located at these newly associated loci include genes implicated in DNA repair (EXO1, HELQ, UIMC1, FAM175A, FANCI, TLK1, POLG and PRIM1) and immune function (IL11, NLRP11 and PRRC2A (also known as BAT2)).
