Establishing a coordinated governance mechanism for regional carbon emissions is an essential way to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality, while the study of interprovincial carbon emissions transfer is one of the important foundations of regional carbon emissions coordinated governance research. Based on the multiregional input-output (MRIO) model, this study calculated the carbon emissions from both the producers' perspective and the consumers' perspective and analyzed the interprovincial net carbon emissions transfer decision. Furthermore, the logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method was adopted to decompose the factors that affect the province's net carbon emissions into technological effect, structural effect, input-output effect, and scale effect.

Artemisia annua, Artemisia argyi, Artemisia absinthium, Artemisia leucophylla and Artemisia lavandulaefolia are five herbal species of Artemisia usually misidentified, adulterated or substituted in commerce. Using light microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and microscopic quantitative analysis, the transverse sections, morphological, powder and quantitative microscopic features of glandular trichome density and area were observed for correct authentication. The results indicated that microscopic characteristics such as the distribution of fiber bundles in the vascular bundle of the main vein, the shape of xylem, the density and type of non-glandular trichomes, the morphology of T-shaped non-glandular trichomes, the type of calcium oxalate crystals, and the number and size of glandular trichomes can be used to authenticate the five Artemisia crude herbs.

Background: Vegetable and fruit consumption may have a protective effect against several types of cancer. However, evidence suggesting that increased intake of vegetables and fruits, their subtypes, or the antioxidant nutrients they contain in abundance decreases the risk of bladder cancer is limited.

Methods: This study included 80,952 participants from the Japan Public Health Center-based Prospective Study, who responded to a food frequency questionnaire in a 5-year follow-up survey in 1995-1998 and were followed up until December 2015 to investigate the associations between intake of vegetables and fruits, their subtypes, or the antioxidant nutrients and bladder cancer risk using Cox proportional hazards regression models.

Target tracking has found important applications in particle tracking, vehicle navigation, aircraft monitoring, etc. However, employing single-pixel imaging techniques to track a fast-moving object with a high frame rate is still a challenge, due to the limitation of the modulation frequency of the spatial light modulator and the number of required patterns. Here we report a complementary single-pixel object tracking approach which requires only two geometric moment patterns to modulate the reflected light from a moving object in one frame.

The epidemiological and clinical characteristics, treatments, and outcomes of patients with traumatic out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCAs) following traffic collisions have not been adequately investigated in Japan. We analyzed the All-Japan Utstein Registry data of 918 pediatric patients aged <20 years with OHCAs following traffic collisions who were resuscitated by bystanders or emergency medical service personnel and were subsequently transported to hospitals between 2013 and 2019. Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to assess factors potentially associated with 1-month survival after OHCA.

The 1-month survival rate from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) of cardiac origin has reportedly improved recently, at ≥5%. However, the characteristics of patients with OHCA after a traffic collision have not been adequately evaluated in Japan. We analyzed the All-Japan Utstein Registry data of 12,577 adult patients aged ≥ 20 years with OHCA due to traffic collisions who were resuscitated by emergency medical service personnel or bystanders and were then transported to medical institutions between 2013 and 2019.

Virus-like particles (VLPs) are used in different marketed vaccines and are able to induce potent antibody responses. The innate pattern recognition receptors TLR7/8 recognize single stranded (ss) RNA naturally packaged into some VLPs and have been shown to enhance the production of IgG antibodies upon immunization. Here we demonstrate that, upon immunization with RNA-loaded bacteriophage-derived VLP Qβ, TLR7 signaling accelerates germinal center formation, promotes affinity/avidity maturation of VLP-specific IgG and isotype switching to IgG2b/2c.

Gastric cancer (GC) is a malignant tumor with high mortality and poor prognosis. Immunotherapies, especially immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI), are widely used in various tumors, but patients with GC do not benefit much from immunotherapies. Therefore, effective predictive biomarkers are urgently needed for GC patients to realize the benefits of immunotherapy.

The scarcity of two-dimensional (2D) magnetic nanostructures has hindered their applications in spintronics, which is attributed to that most magnetic materials exhibit non-van der Waals (nvdWs) structures and it is hard to reduce their thickness to 2D nanostructures. Thus it is necessary to develop a promising strategy for free-standing 2D magnetic nvdWs nanostructures. We have achieved free-standing 2D nvdWs hexagonal FeSe with a thickness of 2.

Observational studies have revealed that dental diseases such as periodontitis and dental caries increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). However, the causality between periodontal disease (PD) and CVDs is still not clarified. In the present study, two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) studies were carried out to assess the association between genetic liability for periodontal diseases (dental caries and periodontitis) and major CVDs, including coronary artery disease (CAD), heart failure (HF), atrial fibrillation (AF), and stroke-including ischemic stroke as well as its three main subtypes-based on large-scale genome-wide association studies (GWASs).

The mammalian gut microbial community, known as the gut microbiota, comprises trillions of bacteria, which co-evolved with the host and has an important role in a variety of host functions that include nutrient acquisition, metabolism, and immunity development, and more importantly, it plays a critical role in the protection of the host from enteric infections associated with exogenous pathogens or indigenous pathobiont outgrowth that may result from healthy gut microbial community disruption. Microbiota evolves complex mechanisms to restrain pathogen growth, which included nutrient competition, competitive metabolic interactions, niche exclusion, and induction of host immune response, which are collectively termed colonization resistance. On the other hand, pathogens have also developed counterstrategies to expand their population and enhance their virulence to cope with the gut microbiota colonization resistance and cause infection.

Organic amines are regarded as high toxic, refractory chemicals due to the great damage on human body, and ecosystem. The treatment of organic amine wastewater involves the removal of total nitrogen and toxic organics simultaneously, which is one of the biggest difficulties in wastewater treatment. In this study, hazardous organic amine wastewater was purified by a photocatalytic fuel cell (PFC) with efficient nitrogen removal and organic degradation, and its chemical energy was recovered simultaneously based on hydroxyl radical (HO·) and chlorine radical (Cl·) reaction in a novel TiO/WO and 3D Cu nanowires modified Cu foam (CuNWs/CF) system.
