Single umbilical artery (SUA) is the most common abnormality of the umbilical cord. It is associated with an increased incidence of atresia of hollow organs, renal abnormalities, limb reduction defects and spontaneous abortions. Iron deficiency anaemia affect every fifth person on the planet, including the developed counties, too; the last data are that at about 700 000 000 are affected.
