Background: Stump appendicitis is a rare complication after primary appendectomy and is often not considered in the differential diagnosis of patients who have undergone an appendectomy. With this systematic review, the aim was to identify all cases of stump appendicitis in children in order to gain a better insight into the risk factors, clinical presentation, diagnostics, and treatment.
Methods: Scopus and PubMed databases were searched.
Peripheral primitive neuroectodermal tumors (pPNET) are a group of extremely rare, aggressive, malignant tumors that are most often found in the thorax (Askin tumor), abdomen, pelvis, extremities and less frequently in the head and neck. The most important prognostic factor is the stage of the tumor. Significant progress both in surgery and in neoadjuvant and adjuvant chemotherapy and radiotherapy, as well as the improvement in diagnosis by cytogenetic and immunohistochemical analysis, should improve the survival rate.

Integrity of the ankle "mortise", which consists of tibial and fibular malleoli, is significant for stability and function of the ankle joint. Tibial malleolar fractures are classified as SH III or SH IV intra-articular fractures and, in cases where the fragments are displaced, anatomic reposition and fixation is mandatory.

Pseudoaneurysms arise from a disruption in the arterial wall and blood dissecting into the tissues around the damaged artery creating a perfused sac that communicates with the arterial lumen. Trauma to the wall of the artery may lead to the development of a pseudoaneurysm. Post-traumatic pseudoaneurysm development is very rare in the peripheral artery and often is a consequence of venipuncture.

At this time there are no data about incidence, clinical course and treatment of these complications in Croatia. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) abdominal pseudocyst is an uncommon but important complication of ventriculoperitoneal shunts.

Background: Primary spontaneous pneumothorax in children is a significant clinical problem. The majority of these patients will require immediate surgical therapy, such as tube thoracostomy.
Patients And Methods: We conducted a retrospective review of 16 patients with a diagnosis of primary spontaneous pneumothorax over a period of 7 years.
Central venous catheters provide an easy access for intravenous medications. Having a central line in place will relieve a child from the discomfort and danger of multiple regular intravenous lines for chemotherapy. The use of indwelling central venous catheters has become commonplace in the management of children undergoing oncological treatment.

The aim of this case report was to analyse the efficiency of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) in the treatment of spontaneous pneumothorax. Spontaneous pneumothorax occurs subsequently to a disruption of visceral pleura and escape of air into pleural space. A retrospective study was performed in 5 patients from December 2001 until May 2006.

Methods: 90 children ASA I or II, scheduled for hernia repairs, circumcisions and orchydopexy, aged 4.5-14 years were randomly assigned in three groups: first received low dose ketamine 0.

Ultrasound of the lower abdomen quadrant should be considered in all cases in which the clinical signs and symptoms are not diagnostic of appendicitis. There is a wide range of clinical syndromes and diseases which can easily be diagnosed using a high resolution ultrasound with adjunct of color and power Doppler.

A convex steel bar is inserted under the sternum through small bilateral incisions, and removed after 2 years when permanent remolding had occured, the bar is removed.
