Background: To evaluate the efficacy of the preoperative ultrasonographic sliding sign in predicting intra-abdominal adhesions.
Methods: This was a single-center, double-blinded, prospective observational study undertaken from March and September 2021 on 110 patients with a history of previous abdominal surgery. All patients who were scheduled for laparoscopy underwent slide test in 5 zones of abdomen: right lower quadrant, left lower quadrant, previous operation site, vesicouterine pouch, and rectovaginal pouch.
Purpose: To evaluate the effects of mechanical bowel preparation (MBP) on the intraoperative visualization of the surgical field, bowel handling, intestinal load, and overall ease of surgery in patients undergoing elective laparoscopic gynecological surgeries.
Methods: The patients randomized to a MBP group and a no preparation (NMBP) group. The senior surgeon remained blinded to the bowel regimen used by the patient.
Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the changes in vital signs and hemodynamic status that occur in patients during the intraoperative course of thyroidectomy in Graves' Disease (GD).
Methods: A total of 71 patients were included in the study. Patients were directed to surgery when they had large goiters with compressive symptoms or suspicious nodules, were pregnant or lactating, were unresponsive or intolerant to antithyroid drugs (ATDs), or expressed a preference to have surgery.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the long term effects of submucousal myoma resection on menorrhagia and infertility; also to detect whether the type, size, and location of myoma affect the surgical success.
Materials And Methods: Totally 98 women referred to hysteroscopy for symptomatic submucousal fibroids (menorrhagia (n=51) and infertility (n=47)) between 2005- 2010 were enrolled in this historical cohort study Pregnancy rates and menstrual improvement rates were compared according to myoma characteristics (size, type and location).
Accurate electroencephalographic (EEG) source localization requires an electrical head model incorporating accurate geometries and conductivity values for the major head tissues. While consistent conductivity values have been reported for scalp, brain, and cerebrospinal fluid, measured brain-to-skull conductivity ratio (BSCR) estimates have varied between 8 and 80, likely reflecting both inter-subject and measurement method differences. In simulations, mis-estimation of skull conductivity can produce source localization errors as large as 3cm.

Aim: To investigate the effects of hypericin which is obtained from the plant Hypericum perforatum on the expression and the regulation of ADAMTS8 and ADAMTS9 genes in MCF7 breast cancer cells and on the viability of these cells.
Materials And Methods: MCF7 cells were cultured and were separately exposed to 2, 10 and 50 µl/mL of hypericin. After 24 hours, RNA was isolated from these cells and converted to cDNA.

Here we report first results of numerical methods for modeling the dynamic structure and evolution of epileptic seizure activity in an intracranial subdural electrode recording from a patient with partial refractory epilepsy. A 16-min dataset containing two seizures was decomposed using up to five competing adaptive mixture independent component analysis (AMICA) models. Multiple models modeled early or late ictal, or pre- or post-ictal periods in the data, respectively.

The NFT includes tools for segmenting scalp, skull, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and brain tissues from T1-weighted magnetic resonance (MR) images.

In this study, we developed numerical methods for investigating the sources of epileptic activity from intracranial EEG recordings acquired from intracranial subdural electrodes (iEEG) in patients undergoing pre-surgical evaluation at the epilepsy center of the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN). The data were analyzed using independent component analysis (ICA), which identifies and isolates maximally independent signal components in multi-channel recordings. A realistic individual head model was constructed for a patient undergoing pre-surgical evaluation.

In this study, we developed numerical methods for investigating the dynamics of epilepsy from multi-scale EEG recordings acquired simultaneously from the scalp (sEEG) and intracranial subdural and/or depth electrodes (iEEG) in patients undergoing pre-surgical evaluation at the epilepsy center of the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN). The data are analyzed using independent component analysis (ICA), which identifies and isolates independent signal components from multi-channel recordings. A realistic individual head model was constructed for a patient undergoing pre-surgical evaluation.
