Purpose: We aimed to compare the diagnostic performance of 68Ga-FAPI-04 (FAPI) in comparison to 68Ga-DOTATATE (SSTR) PET/CT for patients presenting with recurrent medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC).

Patients And Methods: Sixteen MTC patients with elevated calcitonin levels (>150 pg/mL) underwent FAPI and SSTR PET/CT. Two nuclear medicine physicians evaluated all images, categorizing lesions into locoregional metastases, mediastinal lymph nodes (LNs), liver, and bone metastases.

Unexpected sounds have been shown to trigger a global and transient inhibition of motor responses. Recent evidence suggests that eye movements may also be inhibited in a similar way, but it is not clear how quickly unexpected sounds can affect eye-movement responses. Additionally, little is known about whether they affect only voluntary saccades or also reflexive saccades.

Neuroblastoma is the most common malignancy in infants and the most common extracranial solid tumor accounting for approximately 6% of pediatric cancer. Although surgical intervention serves as the primary treatment for early-stage disease, advanced-stage cases necessitate a variety of oncologic therapeutic approaches, including 131I-MIBG and peptide receptor radionuclide therapy. Herein we report incidental pineal gland activity, represented in 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT (SSTR-PET) in 3 pediatric patients diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma, related to the physiological distribution of radiopharmaceuticals.

Article Synopsis
  • * A total of 24 patients underwent both imaging techniques within a week, with the results assessed against biopsy data for accuracy.
  • * The findings indicate that FAPI PET has higher sensitivity and specificity for identifying metastatic lymph nodes compared to FDG PET, suggesting FAPI PET could enhance diagnostic precision in HNSCC monitoring and treatment.

Introduction: This study aims to assess Ga-Trivehexin PET/CT for detecting hyperfunctioning parathyroid tissue in comparison to [Tc]Tc-MIBI scintigraphy-SPECT/CT (MIBI scan) in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT).

Methods: The cohort comprised 13 patients diagnosed with PHPT based on biochemical analyses, including serum calcium, phosphorus, and parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels. Each participant underwent cervical ultrasonography, MIBI scan, and Ga-Trivehexin PET/CT imaging.

Background/aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate the baseline F18-FDG PET/CT findings of individuals diagnosed with giant cell arteritis (GCA) and to explore its association with clinical findings and classification criteria.

Materials And Methods: We analysed data from patients who underwent F18-FDG PET/CT scans to investigate large vessel (LV) involvement between 2010 and 2019. Only patients with a clinical diagnosis of GCA and at least 6 months of follow-up were included.

  • This study compares two surgical methods, Hartmann's procedure (HP) and resection with primary anastomosis (RPA), for treating acute left-sided colonic emergencies among 1215 patients from 204 centers globally.
  • Results showed that while HP was the more common treatment (57.3%), RPA was favored for younger patients with fewer health issues and those needing surgery sooner.
  • The study concluded that although HP is still widely used, RPA might be the better option, emphasizing the importance of patient characteristics and surgeon experience in determining treatment choice.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential role of [F]FDG positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) in the characterization of thymic epithelial tumors (TETs). A total of 73 patients who underwent preoperative [F]FDG PET/CT were included in this study. Visual total score (VTS), maximum standard uptake values (SUV), metabolic tumor volume (MTV), total lesion glycolysis (TLG), and heterogeneity index (HI) parameters were analyzed to investigate the prediction of histopathologic grade and advanced stage.

  • Idiopathic inflammatory myositis (IIM) is a rare disease that can affect not just muscles but also other body parts, and the study looks at how a special scan called PET/CT can help in understanding it better.
  • The researchers studied IIM patients who were actively getting treatment and compared their test results with those of non-IIM patients who had cancer to see how accurate the scans were.
  • The findings suggest that the PET/CT scans showed more signs of muscle activity in IIM patients compared to those without IIM, meaning the scans could be useful for checking how severe the disease is.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study assessed how the timing of HAPS after injecting Tc-MAA affects lung shunt fraction (LSF) and perfused volume (PV) in patients receiving selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT) for liver cancer.
  • - Researchers analyzed 51 HAPS sessions involving 40 patients, comparing LSF values and PV calculations from scans taken one hour and four hours post-injection.
  • - They found LSF values increased significantly from the first hour to the fourth hour, but PV calculations remained consistent; delaying HAPS could lead to overestimations of LSF, potentially impacting treatment decisions.

Purpose: We aimed to investigate the potential of [Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT as an alternative diagnostic and theranostic tool in well-differentiated NETs refractory to [Lu]Lu-DOTATATE therapy.

Methods: Patients who received at least two cycles of [Lu]Lu-DOTATATE therapy for metastatic NETs and progressed under treatment were included. All patients had performed [Ga]Ga-DOTATATE and [Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT within 3 weeks.

Background And Aim: Radioembolization (RE) is a one of the palliative treatments that have been used to down stage and/or increase the survival time in intermediate-advanced stages of HCC. We aimed to evaluate the clinical impact of RE and the clinical use of the albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) score as a predictor for survival in HCC patients.

Materials And Methods: Fifty-nine unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients were enrolled.

Purpose: We aimed to investigate the role of [ Ga]Ga-FAPI-04 PET/CT and uptake patterns of primary and metastatic lesions in patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC).

Methods: Twenty patients with a suspicious lesion considered primary renal malignancy or a history of RCC were included in our study. Two patients were excluded from further analyses due to other confirmed malignancies.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to develop a human-like phantom that mimics the body's attenuation and scattering effects, serving as a more accurate alternative to traditional homogeneous phantoms for calibration factor determination.
  • The new phantom is designed to represent a 75-kg male, including major body regions like the thorax and abdomen, and it was tested with Lu-177 in different lesion volumes.
  • Results showed that the inhomogeneous phantom resulted in a 5.7% difference in calibration factor, leading to a recommendation for its use over homogeneous phantoms for better accuracy in measurements.

  • The study compares 2D (planar) and 3D (SPECT) methods for measuring split renal function (SRF) in both pediatric and adult patients using Tc-DMSA scintigraphy.
  • The analysis involved 212 patients, and it revealed significant differences in SRF measurements between 3D and certain 2D methods, indicating that 3D methods may be more reliable for certain populations.
  • The findings suggest that while 2D circumferential methods can be used for adults with normal kidney function, 3D methods are recommended for better accuracy, especially in pediatric patients and those with poor kidney function.

Purpose: Patients undergoing cataract surgery find postoperative medication management difficult and are anxious about this issue. Differences in the number of medications and frequency of administration can lead to confusion in patients. The aim of this randomized-controlled study was to evaluate the effect of sending short message service (SMS) texts, to reminds patients about need to take postoperative medications, on reducing postoperative anxiety in patients undergoing cataract surgery.
