Recommendations for improving the experimental protocol for the determination of photocatalytic activity by nitric oxide oxidation measurements.

The photocatalytic nitric oxide (NO) oxidation reaction is used as a standard diagnostic tool for photocatalytic activity according to the well-defined protocol described by ISO Standard 22197-1-2007. This protocol identifies the negative peak showing a NO concentration drop during a gas flow switch from the calibration bypass to the reactor as adsorption of NO on the surface. Evidence is provided for this first transient to be due to a dilution effect in the gas phase within the reactor.

Patient-Specific Gingival Recession System Based on Periodontal Disease Prediction.

Materials And Methods: Periodontal Disease Prediction (PDP) software has three components: a) Data Loading Window (DLW) b) Three-Dimensional Mouth Model (3DM) and c) Periodontal Attachment Loss Indicator (PLI). Demographic and clinical examinations of 1057 volunteers were recorded to DLW.

Signal peptide-CUB-EGF domain-containing protein 1 (SCUBE1) levels in patients with overt and subclinical hyperthyroidism: effects of treatment.

Background And Objectives: Signal peptide-CUB-EGF domain-containing protein 1 (SCUBE1) has been shown to increase in parallel with platelet activation in acute ischaemic and thrombotic diseases. There has been no study evaluating SCUBE1 levels in patients with overt hyperthyroidism (OHyper) and subclinical hyperthyroidism (SHyper), conditions which are known to show impairment of both endothelial and platelet function. This study sought to evaluate SCUBE1 concentrations in patients with SHyper and OHyper, and assessed the effects of antithyroid drug (ATD) therapy on circulating SCUBE1 levels.
