Hechong () is an edible marine worm widely distributed in the estuary area. The objective of this study is to determine the antioxidant activities of extracts and protein hydrolysates from Hechong. Results showed that the aqueous extracts of steamed Hechong had the highest antioxidant values using the methods of DPPH, ABTS, and FRAP testing (76.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focused on analyzing the genetic diversity and population structure of rice false smut fungus, which is a significant threat to rice crops, using molecular markers on 167 isolates from the Sichuan-Chongqing region of China.
  • - Researchers identified 62 haplotypes among these isolates, revealing that certain haplotypes were common across multiple geographic areas, indicating gene flow and significant genetic differentiation between populations.
  • - The findings suggest that understanding this genetic variation can improve management and breeding strategies for rice false smut resistance, particularly by evaluating breeding lines with different isolates across various environments.

An analytical model of the thermal effect and optical path difference (OPD) of a thin-disk laser is developed by an arbitrary form pumping spot. Based on the analytical model, the distribution of temperature, stress, and strain can be derived using a super-Gaussian form pumping spot. The total OPD caused by temperature gradient, axial thermal strain, thermal strain-induced birefringence, and deformation of the thin-disk crystal is discussed for different super-Gaussian factors and is separated into spherical and aspherical parts.

Objective: To compare the differences in the clinical function and lumbar and abdominal myodynamia in patiants of lumbar disc herniation treated with moxibustion at Dazhui (GV 14) and Guanyuan (CV 4) and acupuncture.

Methods: Forty cases were randomized into a moxibustion group and an acupuncture group, 20 cases in each group. In the moxibustion group, the warm moxibustion was applied alternatively at Dazhui (GV 14) and Guanyuan (CV 4) once every other day, 1 h each time, once every day.
