Background: As electric bicycles (e-bikes) become increasingly popular, reports of injuries associated with e-bike usage are also rising. Patterns, characteristics, and severity of injuries following e-bike crashes need further investigation, particularly in contrast to injuries from conventional bicycle crashes.

Objective: Personality is associated with psychopathology after disasters, but its association with the portion of postdisaster psychopathology that is incident remains unclear. It is also unclear whether any particular attributes of personality are associated with resistance to the persistence or recurrence of preexisting psychopathology after disasters. This exploratory study of employees of workplaces affected by the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City examined the specific relationships of personality variables (specifically, novelty seeking, harm avoidance, reward dependence, persistence, self-directedness, cooperativeness, and self-transcendence) to incident postdisaster psychiatric disorders and resistance to the persistence/recurrence of preexisting psychiatric disorders after the disaster.

Synthesizing Li-ion-conducting solid electrolytes with application-relevant properties for new energy storage devices is a challenging task that relies on a few design principles to tune ionic conductivity. Solid electrolytes based on LiBH receive much attention because of their high ionic conductivity, electrochemical robustness, and low interfacial resistance against Li metal. The highly conductive hexagonal modification of LiBH can be stabilized via the incorporation of LiI. If the resulting LiBH-LiI is confined to the nanopores of an oxide, such as AlO, interface-engineered LiBH-LiI/AlO is obtained that revealed promising properties as a solid electrolyte.

This study investigated gaps in existing knowledge on justice, desire for revenge, and associated factors in disaster research through data collected nearly three years post disaster on justice and revenge from survivors of the September 11, 2001 (9/11) attacks. A volunteer sample of 379 employees of eight affected businesses completed interviews and self-report questionnaires. Individual ratings on satisfaction with justice and desire for revenge were compared with demographic characteristics, disaster-related experience, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), disaster-related distress, anger, and concerns about danger and safety.

Operando magnetic susceptibility measurements of sodium ion cathode materials during repetitive electrochemical cycling enable a continuous and bulk sensitive monitoring of the transition metal oxidation states. Such measurements on NaxV2(PO4)3 identified vanadium to be the only ion undergoing oxidation/reduction processes upon battery operation. For the initial battery charging-discharging cycle as well as for the first cycle after prolonged room temperature storage, however, peculiarities within the magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate parasitic side reactions, likely on the cathode surface.

Purpose: Scapular fractures after reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) are often associated with substantial shoulder impairment.
