A series of spinel CuMO (M = Mn, Fe, and Al) was used as the catalyst to investigate the effective degradation of toluene, and then CuMnO with better catalytic activity was selected as the research object to study its activity at different ratios of Cu and Mn. Meanwhile, CeO was introduced to modify CuMn bimetallic oxide to improve its catalytic performance. The structure, morphology, and valence states of surface elements of as-prepared catalysts were characterized by XRD, TEM, SEM, N adsorption-desorption, XPS, and H-TPR.

A series of Ce-doped LaMnO (LaCeMnO) were prepared and were tested for gaseous toluene oxidation in order to investigate the effect of cerium doping in LaMnO on activity under photothermal conditions. It was found that the activity and CO yield of the catalyst can be effectively increased when x = 0.25.

The objective of this study was to investigate the influences of carbonyl stress induced by malondialdehyde (MDA), a typical intermediate of lipid peroxidation, on intracellular free Ca(2+) concentration ([Ca(2+)](i)) alterations in cultured hippocampal neurons of rat. The microphotographic study clearly demonstrated that the hippocampal neurons became gradually damaged following exposure to different concentrations of MDA. Further study indicated that the plasma membrane Ca(2+)-ATPase (PMCA) activity was inhibited by MDA in a concentration- and time-dependent manner.
