Article Synopsis
  • DNA methylation is crucial for regulating crop development, but its relationship with genetic variations and traits in natural populations is not fully understood.
  • By analyzing cotton fibers, the study found over 287 million single methylation polymorphisms (SMPs), vastly outnumbering single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), highlighting the importance of methylation in gene expression.
  • The research identified numerous cis-methylation quantitative trait loci (cis-meQTLs) that are significant for fiber traits, indicating that many gene expression variations are linked to methylation rather than traditional genetic variations, opening new avenues for crop breeding improvement.

Article Synopsis
  • - The research focuses on cotton fiber development, highlighting that certain gene families play a crucial role in growing epidermal hair and coping with environmental stress, but many of these functions are not thoroughly understood yet.
  • - A total of 131 genes were identified in the TM-1 cotton variety and 130 in Hai7124, with comparative analysis revealing that TM-1 has more genes linked to fiber quality, while Hai7124 is associated with yield traits.
  • - The study identified a specific gene (GH_D04G0930) that helps cotton seedlings resist cold temperatures, suggesting this research could inform future improvements in cotton’s growth traits and resilience.

Due to the trajectory error of the low-precision position and orientation system (POS) used in unmanned aerial laser scanning (ULS), discrepancies usually exist between adjacent LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) strips. Strip adjustment is an effective way to eliminate these discrepancies. However, it is difficult to apply existing strip adjustment methods in mountainous areas with few artificial objects.

Purpose: This study was designed to investigate the clinical value of serum thyroglobulin (Tg) and antithyroglobulin antibody (TgAb) measurements and the cutoff value after ablation in differentiated thyroid carcinoma (DTC) complicated by Hashimoto thyroiditis (HT) with metastasis.

Materials And Methods: We measured serum Tg and TgAb levels and evaluated the disease status in 164 cases of DTC coexistent with HT in pathologically confirmed patients after surgery and post-remnant ablation during a 3-year follow-up. All Tg and TgAb levels were assessed by chemiluminescent immunoassay (IMA).
