Electrolyte additives are considered as a straightforward and effective approach for steadying zinc anode. Nevertheless, most reported adsorption-type additives primarily focus on modulating the transport of Zn and inhibiting side reactions, while neglecting the regulation of the surface state of zinc anode, which determines the final depositional behavior of Zn. Herein, vanillin acetate molecules incorporating strong electron-withdrawing and electron-donating groups, and conjugated benzene rings and capable of assembling into compact molecular array layers on zinc anodes are designed as functional electrolyte additives for optimizing the performance of zinc metal anode.

In this paper, we present a method based on the conjugate image principle and micro-nano optics to detect tilt aberrations of a phased fiber laser array system. A co-aperture optics system was adapted to detect the tilt aberrations of a seven-element phased fiber laser array system simultaneously. A Kepler telescope was designed to construct the conjugate relation between the exit pupil of a fiber optic laser array system and a microlens array and also to match the size of the seven beams and the microlens array.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a common clinical condition of the central nervous system that can lead to sensory and motor impairment below the injury level or permanent loss of function in severe cases. Dynamic spatiotemporal neuroinflammation is vital to neurological recovery, which is collectively constituted by the dynamic changes in a series of inflammatory cells, including microglia, neutrophils, and astrocytes, among others. Immunomodulatory nanomaterials can readily improve the therapeutic effects and simultaneously overcome various drawbacks associated with treatment, such as the off-target side effects and loss of bioactivity of immune agents during circulation.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) are considered to be one of the most promising energy storage systems due to their high degree of safety and low cost. However, the deposition of the uncontrolled zinc dendritic morphology on the surface of the Zn anode seriously reduces the cycle life of AZIBs. Herein, inspired by natural biomineralization, a uniform spherical zinc deposition is achieved via the addition of a biological macromolecule to the electrolyte.

Article Synopsis
  • A study aimed to improve COPD detection by developing a CNN model that uses double-phase chest CT images along with clinical data.
  • The model was trained on over 2,000 participants and showed superior performance, achieving an AUC of 0.930 in detecting COPD, which is higher than other models tested.
  • The results suggest that this CNN model is a promising tool for accurately diagnosing COPD and may help identify patients who remain undiagnosed despite previous medical evaluations.

Acquiring aerosol vertical distribution information is crucial to accurately quantify the aerosol radiation effect on climate and understand the environmental pollution mechanism of the atmosphere. Passive remote sensing has shown its capability to gain large-scale, high spatiotemporal resolution aerosol vertical information such as aerosol layer height (ALH). However, it is still challenging to extract detailed aerosol vertical distribution information, e.

Promoting the recovery of neurological function in patients with traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) remains challenging. The balance between astrocyte-mediated neurotrophic and pro-inflammatory responses is critical for TSCI repair. Recently, the utilization of nanomaterials has been considerably explored in immunological reconstructive techniques that specifically target astrocyte-mediated inflammation, yielding positive outcomes.

Aqueous zinc-metal batteries are considered to have the potential for energy storage due to their high safety and low cost. However, the practical applications of zinc batteries are limited by dendrite growth and side reactions. Epitaxial growth is considered an effective method for stabilizing Zn anode, especially for manipulating the (002) plane of deposited zinc.

Many cathode materials store zinc ions based on the intercalation reaction mechanism in neutral aqueous Zn-ion batteries, and the structural design of the cathodes has been stuck in the curing mode by extending the ion diffusion channel. Here, we first develop halide ions to unlock the electrochemical activity of conversion-type BiO in aqueous Zn-ion batteries. Notably, the iodide ion shows the best performance compatibility with the BiO cathode.

Lexical databases are essential tools for studies on language processing and acquisition. Most previous Chinese lexical databases have focused on materials for adults, yet little is known about reading materials for children and how lexical properties from these materials affect children's reading comprehension. In the present study, we provided the first large database of 2999 Chinese characters and 2182 words collected from the official textbooks recently issued by the Ministry of Education (MOE) of the People's Republic of China for most elementary schools in Mainland China, as well as norms from both school-aged children and adults.

The microbial community structure in traditional fermented foods is quite complex, making the relationship between strains unclear. In this regard, the co-culture system can simulate microbial interactions during food fermentation and reveal the morphological changes, metabolic processes, and gene expression of microbial communities. The present study sought to investigate the effects of microbial interactions on the growth of and through omics.

As a security protection system, the marine interdiction system can be set up outside the port to provide security protection for the ships and facilities there as well as to prevent explosions and ship collisions. This paper uses the Arbitrary Lagrangian Euler (ALE) method in ANSYS LS/DYNA to simulate a blast for an interdiction system close to the water's surface. The simulated shock wave overpressure is extracted and fitted, and when compared with the empirical formula, it is discovered that the trend and value are in good agreement.

Purpose: To develop and evaluate a sequence in which water excitation with lipid insensitive binomial off-resonant radio frequency excitation (LIBRE) pulses is incorporated into three-dimensional (3D) variable flip angle fast spin echo (LIBRE-vf-FSE) for fat-free and large field of view imaging at 3 Tesla (T).

Materials And Methods: Numerical simulation was conducted to optimize the parameters of LIBRE pulses, including the flip angle, pulse duration, and frequency offset, for maximizing the fat suppression effect of the proposed LIBRE-vf-FSE sequence. The sequence was then implemented at 3 T and assessed in phantoms, lower extremity imaging of 8 healthy volunteers, and head/neck imaging of 5 healthy volunteers.

Melanoidins, making general contribution to the food characteristics, are extensively generated in the production of Chinese traditional vinegar; however, their effect on flavor modification remains unknown. This study investigated the changes in the melanoidins of Zhenjiang aromatic vinegar (ZAV) during decoction, and the interactions of crude melanoidins (CM) and pure melanoidins (PM) from decocted and undecocted ZAV with mixed aroma compounds were compared. With the exception of CN, OH and CH, chemical bonds and groups varied among the four types of melanoidins.
