Background: There is currently a lack of data on chronic pain in general practice.
Methods: Over a period of 2 years, data from 12,271 patients visiting a pain specialist on an outpatient basis were collected. All patients had documented their pain history (German pain questionnaire) via tablet/computer into a databank.
Introduction: Advance directives (AD) play a central role in end-of-life treatments, intensive care, and palliative care. However, little is known about the experiences of healthcare professionals with ADs. This study reports on palliative care professionals' views on advance directives (AD).

Few clinical studies show short-term pain relief after opioid withdrawal (OW). We have evaluated the relation between pain intensity after OW and long-term opioid nonuse.

To date only few studies concerning this statement exist and the results are inconsistent. The objective of this study was to evaluate the prognostic validity of the Mainz pain staging system (MPSS) in a large multicenter sample.

A frequent complication of IJV access is the accidental injury of the common carotid artery (CCA), which can be dangerous in some circumstances. Landmarks and palpation of the CCA are used when ultrasound is not available.
