Background: The causal relationship between PM (particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter ≤2.5 μm) and common mental disorders, along with its neuropathological mechanisms, remains unclear.

Methods: We used genome-wide association study datasets from the UK Biobank and Psychiatric Genomics Consortium to systematically investigate the causal relationship between PM and nine common psychiatric disorders using two-sample Mendelian randomization (TSMR) methods.

The combined effect of cardiovascular risk factors on breast cancer in women is unknown. The relationship between genetic risk combined with cardiovascular health (CVH) levels and breast cancer has not been confirmed. This study aims to explore the relationship between CVH level based on life's essential 8 (LE8) score and breast cancer risk in women with different menopausal statuses and to estimate further the effect of CVH level combined with genetic susceptibility on breast cancer risk.

Article Synopsis
  • Accumulating evidence suggests that particulate air pollutants are linked to neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs), but the exact causal relationship is still unclear.
  • A two-sample Mendelian randomization study was conducted using genetic data to investigate the impact of particulate matter on four common NDDs.
  • The findings indicated that particulate pollutants significantly increase the risk of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) but showed no causal relationship with other NDDs, highlighting the importance of improving air quality for public health.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the causal relationships between rheumatoid arthritis and adverse pregnancy outcomes (APOs) using a two-sample Mendelian randomization approach in European and Asian populations.
  • Results indicate that rheumatoid arthritis increases the risk of several APOs in European populations, including gestational hypertension, pre-eclampsia, fetal growth restriction, and preterm delivery, but no causal effects were found in East Asians.
  • The findings emphasize the need for enhanced prenatal care and early interventions for pregnant women with rheumatoid arthritis to mitigate these risks.
