- Genital tract infections with Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) and Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) are common sexually transmitted diseases that can lead to infertility and complications during pregnancy.
- A study of 2208 patients undergoing in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection-embryo transfer (IVF/ICSI-ET) aimed to examine the effects of cervical UU and CT infections on pregnancy outcomes.
- The findings indicated that while these infections increased the risk of ectopic pregnancy and infertility caused by tubal factors, they did not significantly affect pregnancy rates, miscarriage rates, or premature birth rates compared to a control group.
