2-(2-Methyl-2-nitrovinyl)furan but Not Furvina Interfere with Agr Quorum-Sensing System and Potentiate the Action of Fusidic Acid against Biofilms.

Quorum sensing (QS) plays an essential role in the production of virulence factors, in biofilm formation and antimicrobial resistance. Consequently, inhibiting QS is being considered a promising target for antipathogenic/anti-virulence therapies. This study aims to screen 2-nitrovinylfuran derivatives structurally related to Furvina (a broad-spectrum antibiotic already used for therapeutic purposes) for their effects on QS and in biofilm prevention/control.

Assessing mineral profiles for rice flour fraud detection by principal component analysis based data fusion.

The present work proposes to detect adulteration in rice flour using mineral profiles. Eighty-seven flour samples from two rice kinds (Indica and Japonica) plus thirty adulterated flour samples were analyzed by ICP OES. After obtaining the quantitative elemental fingerprint of the samples, PCA and LDA were applied.

Crystals of the title compound, C(7)H(7)NO(3), under Mo Kα radiation sublime in less than 1h at room temperature. However, it was possible to collect data at 100K. It crystallized as the E isomer only.

The title compound, C(6)H(5)NO(3), was synthesized via condensation of furfural with nitro-methane in the presence of isobutyl-amine. The compound crystallizes exclusively as the E isomer. The angle between the mean planes of the furan ring and the nitro-alkenyl group is 1.
