Objectives: Stability of concentrations of urinary stone-related metabolites was analyzed from samples of recurrent urinary stone formers to assess necessity and effectiveness of urine acidification during collection and storage.
Methods: First-morning urine was collected from 20 adult calcium-stone forming patients at Tomas Bata Hospital in the Czech Republic. Urine samples were analyzed for calcium, magnesium, inorganic phosphate, uric acid, sodium, potassium, chloride, citrate, oxalate, and urine particles.
Background: Lupus anticoagulant (LA) may be a cause of poor obstetric outcome.
Objective: To search the association of LA with risk factors for obstetric complications and adverse gestational outcome.
Methods: This retrospective cohort was consisted of 2 groups of pregnancies with poor obstetric history; 1) LA (+) gestations (Study Group, n= 20) and 2) LA (-) gestations (Control Group, 78).
Background: The presence of atrial fibrosis has already been known as a risk factor for atrial fibrillation (AF) development. We aimed to evaluate atrial fibrosis with previously defined three different methods, which were cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (C-MRI), echocardiographic strain imaging, and biomarkers and show the relationship between these methods in patients with AF scheduled for cryoballoon ablation.
Methods: A total of 30 patients were enrolled.

Methods: A total of 44 children were included to this randomized controlled trial prospectively. After randomization, 20 of 30 children with storage phase dysfunction those were unresponsive or noncompliant to medical treatment received TPTNS treatment (test group) and 10 children underwent TPTNS with no current (sham group) for 12 weeks.
Background: Serial C-reactive protein (CRP) biomarker values are frequently recorded from patients in adult intensive care units (ICU). The aim of this study was to assess the time-dependent diagnostic accuracy of repeated CRP measurements in predicting ICU mortality and determine the time-dependent cutoff values for this biomarker in mixed ICU population.
Methods: Joint modeling was performed to model repeated CRP measurements and survival data.

The telomerase inhibitor GRN163L, was shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells both in vitro and in vivo. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) also show telomerase activity in maintaining their self-renewal; therefore the effects of telomerase inhibitors on MSCs may be an issue of concern.
