Cefprozil is a novel third generation, broad-spectrum oral cephalosporin. Serum sickness-like reaction and rash caused by cefprozil have been previously reported, but liver damage has not been documented. We report on a 15 years-old female with tonsillopharyngitis who developed hepatitis after treatment with cefprozil.

However, it also occurs in younger patients with diabetes mellitus and chronic renal failure. In diabetic patients, medial calcification appears to be a strong independent predictor of cardiovascular mortality.
