The electroreforming of ethylene glycol (EG) derived from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) to prepare rewarding chemicals is an ideal solution to solve serious plastic pollution. A wet chemical method is used to synthesize organic-inorganic hybridized PdMn bimetallenes (PdMn O-BMs) catalyst. The PdMn O-BMs catalyst have a rich curled structure of nanosheets.

Peptides are native binders involved in numerous physiological life procedures, such as cellular signaling, and serve as ready-made regulators of biochemical processes. Meanwhile, small molecules compose many drugs owing to their outstanding advantages of physiochemical properties and synthetic convenience. A novel field of research is converting peptides into small molecules, providing a convenient portable solution for drug design or peptidomic research.

Incorporating unmodified silica nanoparticles onto polymer latexes to fabricate aqueous polymer dispersions without relying on electrostatic attraction during the Pickering emulsion polymerization process still faces challenges. For negatively charged silica nanoparticles to successfully adsorb onto polymer latexes, particularly in an anionic initiator emulsion polymerization system, they have remained elusive without the use of auxiliary monomers and cationic initiators. This study investigates various experimental parameters, such as emulsion polymerization temperature, monomer solubility, salt concentration, and cation type, to elucidate the factors influencing the adsorption of unmodified silica nanoparticles in Pickering emulsion polymerization.

Biosensors based on allosteric transcription factors have been widely used in synthetic biology. In this study, we utilized the ADP1 transcription factor PobR to develop a biosensor activating the P promoter when bound to its natural ligand, 4-hydroxybenzoic acid (4HB). To screen for PobR mutants responsive to 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate(HPP), we developed a dual selection system in .

A palladium-catalyzed thiocarbonylation reaction for the synthesis of α,β-unsaturated thioesters from vinyl triflates with -aryl thioformates as the thioester sources has been developed. The reaction proceeded smoothly at low temperature, and a variety of α,β-unsaturated thioesters were produced in moderate to high yields with very good functional group tolerance. This protocol features mild reaction conditions, good substrate scope, and avoids the use of toxic CO gas or odorous thiols, which made it a worthy addition to α,β-unsaturated thioester synthesis via a thioester transfer process.

Tobacco smoking and alcohol consumption have been associated with frailty in observational studies. We sought to examine whether these associations reflect causality using the two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) design. We used summary genome-wide association statistics for smoking initiation ( = 2,669,029), alcohol consumption ( = 2,428,851), and the frailty index (FI, = 175,226) in participants of European ancestry.
