Evaluation of socioecological factors on health behaviors and weight change during major life event: A cross-sectional study using data collected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: Socioecological factors are associated with key health behaviors that are critical for weight management, and major life events may disrupt engagement in these behaviors. However, the influence of socioecological factors on health behaviors in the midst of major life events is not clear and is difficult to study due to the random and sporadic nature of their occurrence. The COVID-19 pandemic provided a unique opportunity to study a major life event and its impacts on diet, physical activity, and body weight.

Background: Bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) operates under the assumption that the conductor has a uniform cylindrical shape. However, this assumption may be violated if measures are taken in the seated position, especially in people with a high waist circumference (WC).

Aims: The aims of this research were to determine whether posture (supine, standing, and seated) and WC affect agreement between BIA and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) measures of fat mass (FM) and fat-free mass (FFM).

The association between mean platelet volume and poor outcome in patients with COVID-19: Systematic review, meta-analysis, and meta-regression.

Introduction: This study aims to assess the association between mean platelet volume (MPV) and poor outcome in patients with COVID-19.

Methods: We performed a comprehensive literature search using the PubMed, Embase and Scopus databases with keywords "2019-nCoV" OR "SARS-CoV-2" OR "COVID-19" AND "mean platelet volume" OR "MPV" on 8 July 2021. The primary outcome was composite poor outcome, defined as severe COVID-19 or mortality.

Background: The primary objective was to report our early results after a one-stage procedure [open reduction (OR), Dega pelvic osteotomy (DPO), and femoral osteotomy (FO) when needed] for surgical management of a cohort of patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). Management of chronic patellar instability in patients with open physis requires special reconstruction techniques to minimize the risks of femoral growth plate injury due to the close proximity of the open physis to the native femoral origin of the medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL). Children and adolescents have a relatively smaller patella than the adult group, so, there is a higher risk of patellar fracture when tunnels are performed in the patella. It is wise to mimic the normal anatomy of the medial patellofemoral complex (MPFC) by reconstruction of both of the medial quadriceps tendon femoral ligament (MQTFL) and MPFL, so as to restore the normal fan-shaped MPFC, with its wide anterior attachment to both of the patella and quadriceps tendon (QT).

Qualitative studies suggest that college students with food insecurity (FI) experience stigma and misinterpret some of the USDA Adult Food Security Survey Module (AFSSM) questions, leading to misclassification of food security (FS) status. We aimed to evaluate differences in AFSSM-measured FS status and self-categorized FS status (based on USDA descriptions of the four FS levels) among college students, and to identify differences in the coping strategies and BMI of these students. We retrospectively reviewed 56 fingers with a type 1 flexor digitorum profundus avulsion (jersey finger) injury. Nineteen fingers were treated with a four-strand pull-out suture technique that did not include the distal palmar plate, and 37 were treated with a six-strand pull-out suture technique that included the distal palmar plate. An early active mobilization regimen was used.

Comparison between Malerba osteotomy and combined Evans/medial displacement calcaneal osteotomies for the management of flexible pes planus in young adults: a prospective randomised control trial, three years follow-up.

Purpose: The aim of the current study is to evaluate the functional and radiological outcomes of Malerba osteotomy in comparison to the standardized combined Evans/Medial Displacement Calcaneal Osteotomy (MDCO) in the management of symptomatic flexible pes planus in young adults.

Methods: Prospective randomized control trial included 34 feet (33 patients), 17 cases in each group. Functionally, patients were assessed by AOFAS and FADI scores.
