Background: Distal femur fractures are considered challenging to manage, particularly in geriatric patients. Double plating (DP) is a technique that helps with earlier rehabilitation and return to preinjury level of activity. Distal femoral replacement (DFR) is an alternative technique in the management of these fractures that may help to solve problems like associated knee osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and severely comminuted condyles.

The study aim is to evaluate functional and radio- logical outcomes following a suggested protocol based on the four-column classification for management of posterolateral column tibial plateau fractures. A prospective cohort study was performed in level I academic center on 42 patients with mean age of 36 years (22-59). Eleven patients had isolated posterolateral column fractures whereas 31 patients had associated columns fractures.

This study aims to determine the mean posterior condylar angle (PCA) in the included population and its relation to coronal alignment; and to know the clinical importance of the use of preoperative computed tomography (CT) scan in total knee arthroplasty (TKA). We randomized 50 patients with primary knee osteoarthritis into 2 groups. We used CT scan axial images to measure the PCA.

Background: Several insights into obesity-osteoarthritis (OA) relationship have been recently highlighted. Adipolin and metrnl are new adipokines also secreted by chondrocytes. However, their role in OA, and obesity-OA interplay hasn't been elucidated.

Introduction: Distal femoral fractures in elderly population had recorded an increase in incidence in the last 2 decades. Lateral distal femoral locking plating is considered one of the best options especially when dealing with comminuted fractures but varus collapse of the medial femoral condyle occurs frequently in patients with osteoporosis. Anatomical reduction of the fracture with stable rigid fixation using double-plating approach allows early mobilization of geriatric population and prevents varus collapse minimizing the comorbidities in such fractures.

Impaired autophagy and oxidative stress are implicated in the development of many diseases. This study aimed to investigate the involvement of autophagy represented by autophagy-related gene 7 (Atg7) and oxidative stress represented by superoxide dismutase 2 (SOD2) gene expression and enzyme activity in the pathogenesis of osteoporosis. Atg7 and SOD2 gene relative expression were evaluated by SYBR green quantitative real-time-polymerase chain reaction in the osteoporotic group (n = 26) versus the osteoporosis free group (n = 14).

Medial meniscus posterior root tear is one of the underestimated knee injuries in terms of incidence. Despite its grave sequelae, using simple but effective technique can maintain the native knee joint longevity. In the current note, a 2-simple-suture pullout technique was used to effectively reduce the meniscus posterior root to its anatomic position.

Introduction: The identification of genes associated with osteoarthritis can help reveal underlying biological mechanisms that may lead to development of new therapeutic targets or biomarkers for early detection and risk stratification. Nucleostemin (GNL3) is a nucleolar GTPase initially identified in the nucleolus of rat neural stem cells. The current study was conducted to determine the expression of nucleostemin gene in the synovium and synovial fluid of patients with primary osteoarthritis and to correlate its expression to the different clinicopathological factors of the disease.
