Unilateral leg swelling is most often caused by deep vein thrombosis but other conditions may mimic this disorder. We describe the case of a patient with symptoms of unilateral lower extremity swelling caused by external compression of the iliac vein by a mass originating from the iliopsoas muscle. Initially this mass was diagnosed as an iliopsoas hematoma in a patient using anticoagulants.

Aims/hypothesis: Individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus have increased rates of macrovascular disease (MVD). Methods: From March 2009 to May 2011, 1200 patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms were treated with endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) using the Endurant stent graft were included in the Endurant Stent Graft Natural Selection Global Postmarket Registry (ENGAGE) registry. Among these, 926 (77%) were aged <80 years, and 274 (23%) were aged ≥ 80 years.

Background:   Anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS) are widely abused for enhancing muscle mass, strength, growth and improving athletic performance.

A 63-year-old male patient with a type B aortic dissection after the use of tadalafil, a phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitor, is presented. The possible role of a novel predisposing factor--sexual activity combined with tadalafil--is reviewed. This report and three other cases add a new dimension to the known predisposing factors such as chronic systemic hypertension, hereditary connective tissue diseases- and congenital aortic valve diseases.
