Phytochemical study on 90% ethanol extract from the green walnut husks of Maxim. resulted into the isolation of three undescribed triterpenoids, juglansmanoids A-C (-). Structural elucidation of all the compounds were performed by spectral methods such as 1D and 2D (H-H COSY, HMQC, and HMBC) NMR spectroscopy, in addition to high resolution mass spectrometry.

In addition to the pure subgroups, mixed neuropathologic features and the coexistence of two types of abnormal prion proteins in the same patient also have been reported. Here, we found that a portion of the patients previously diagnosed as MM1 had neuropathologic characteristics of the MM2 thalamic form (ie, neuronal loss of the inferior olivary nucleus of the medulla).

Lipid rafts are enriched in sialic acid-containing glycosphingolipids (namely, gangliosides). Alteration in the ganglioside composition of lipid rafts can affect the localization of lipid raft-associated proteins.

The present study aimed to develop a quick evaluation system of the transmission properties of acquired CJD-MMiK. In the PrP-humanized mice intraperitoneally inoculated with brain homogenates from an acquired CJD-MMiK patient, accumulation of abnormal PrP was observed in follicular dendritic cells of the spleen at 75 days post-inoculation.
