A millimeter-wave broadband metasurface-based antenna with a low profile is proposed. Ferromagnetic semiconductors (FMS) enable simultaneous control of both charge and spin transport of charge carriers, and they have emerged as a class of highly desirable but rare materials for applications in spin field-effect transistors and quantum computing. Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites with high compositional adjustability and structural versatility can offer unique benefits in the design of FMS but has not been fully explored. Here, a series of molecular FMSs based on the 2D organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite structure, namely (2ampy)CuCl , (3ampy)CuCl , and (4ampy)CuCl , is demonstrated, which exhibits high saturation magnetization, dramatic temperature-dependent conductivity change, and tunable ferromagnetic resonance.

A detector with both broad operation range and high sensitivity is desirable in the measurement of weak periodic forces. Based on a nonlinear dynamical mechanism of locking the mechanical oscillation amplitude in optomechanical systems, we propose a force sensor that realizes the detection through the cavity field sidebands modified by an unknown external periodic force. Under the mechanical amplitude locking condition, the unknown external force happens to modify the locked oscillation amplitude linearly to its magnitude, thus achieving a linear scaling between the sideband changes read by the sensor and the magnitude of the force to be measured.

Background: Cross-species comparison of transcriptomes is important for elucidating evolutionary molecular mechanisms underpinning phenotypic variation between and within species, yet to date it has been essentially limited to model organisms with relatively small sample sizes.

Results: Here, we systematically analyze and compare 10,830 and 4866 publicly available RNA-seq samples in humans and cattle, respectively, representing 20 common tissues. Focusing on 17,315 orthologous genes, we demonstrate that mean/median gene expression, inter-individual variation of expression, expression quantitative trait loci, and gene co-expression networks are generally conserved between humans and cattle.

Understanding the genetic mechanisms of phenotypic variation in hybrids between domestic animals and their wild relatives may aid germplasm innovation. Here, we report the high-quality genome assemblies of a male Pamir argali ( , 2 = 56), a female Tibetan sheep ( , 2 = 54), and a male hybrid of Pamir argali and domestic sheep, and the high-throughput sequencing of 425 ovine animals, including the hybrids of argali and domestic sheep. We detected genomic synteny between Chromosome 2 of sheep and two acrocentric chromosomes of argali.

This article deals with an uncertain two-link rigid-flexible manipulator with vibration amplitude constraint, intending to achieve its position control via motion planning and adaptive tracking approach. In motion planning, the motion trajectories for the two links of the manipulator are planned based on virtual damping and online trajectories correction techniques. The planned trajectories can not only guarantee that the two links can reach their desired angles, but also have the ability to suppress vibration, which can be adjusted to meet the vibration amplitude constraint by limiting the parameters of the planned trajectories.

Background: Ketosis is a common metabolic disease during the transition period in dairy cattle, resulting in long-term economic loss to the dairy industry worldwide. While genetic selection of resistance to ketosis has been adopted by many countries, the genetic and biological basis underlying ketosis is poorly understood.

Two-dimensional (2D) hybrid perovskites have shown many attractive properties associated with their soft lattices and multiple quantum well structure. Herein, we report the synthesis and characterization of two new multifunctional 2D hybrid perovskites, (PED)CuCl and (BED) CuCl , which show reversible thermochromic behavior, dramatic temperature-dependent conductivity change, and strong ferromagnetism. Upon temperature change, the (PED)CuCl and (BED) CuCl crystals exhibit a reversible color change between yellow and red-brown.

This paper presents a novel J band (220-325 GHz) MEMS switch design. The equivalent circuits, the major parameters, capacitance, inductance and resistance in the circuit were extracted and calculated quantitatively to carry out the radio frequency analysis. The mechanistic details of N-heterocyclic olefin-catalyzed formation of cyclic carbonate from CO2 and propargylic alcohols were investigated by DFT calculations. Six mechanisms, four for the formation of five-membered cyclic carbonate (M-A, M-B, M-B' and M-C), and two for six-membered cyclic carbonate (M-D and M-E), were fully investigated. The energy profiles in dichloromethane showed that M-B is the predominant reaction with the lowest barrier of 31.

The prevalence and levels of Listeria monocytogenes in retail raw foods covering most provincial capitals in China were studied with testing of 1036 samples of vegetables, edible mushrooms, raw meat, aquatic products and quick-frozen products from September 2012 to January 2014. The total prevalence of Listeria monocytogenes was 20.0% (207/1036), and the most probable number (MPN) values of 65.
