Antibiotics are effective in treating bacterial infections, but their widespread use has spurred antibiotic resistance, which is linked closely with human disease. While dietary components are known to influence the gut microbiome, specific effects on the gut resistome-the collection of antibiotic-resistant genes in the gut-remain underexplored. This review outlines the mechanisms of antibiotic action and the development of resistance, emphasizing the connection between the gut resistome and human diseases such as metabolic disorders, cardiovascular disease, liver disease, and nervous system disorders.

Background: Lipid metabolism is influenced by mutations in the EH domain binding protein 1 gene (EHBP1). This study investigated the link between the EHBP1 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and dyslipidemia risks in maintenance dialysis patients with end-stage renal disease in Chinese Han population.
Methods: A total of 539 patients were divided into dyslipidemia (379) and control (160) groups.

Background: High blood pressure (HBP) and diabetes mellitus (DM) are two of the most prevalent cardiometabolic disorders globally, especially among individuals with lower socio-economic status (SES). Studies have linked residential greenness to decreased risks of HBP and DM. However, there has been limited evidence on whether SES may modify the associations of residential greenness with HBP and DM.

Nevertheless, there has been no evidence on associations between long-term exposures to heat waves and CKD as well as the modifying effects of land cover patterns. Based on a national representative population-based survey on CKD covering 47,086 adults and high spatial resolution datasets on temperature and land cover data, we found that annual days of exposure to heat waves were associated with increased odds of CKD prevalence.

However, a limited number of studies have examined the long-term effects of ambient fine particulate matter (PM) components on the risk of CKD among general population; thus, major knowledge gaps remain.
Methods: Using data from a nationwide representative cross-sectional survey in China and a validated PM composition dataset, we established generalized linear models to quantify the association between five major components of PM and CKD prevalence.
Ambient air pollution exposure may increase the risk of obesity, but the population susceptibility associated with urbanicity has been insufficiently investigated. Based on a nationwide representative cross-sectional survey on 44,544 adults, high-resolution night light satellite remote sensing products, and multi-source ambient air pollution inversion data, the present study evaluated the associations of fine particulate matter (PM) and nitrogen dioxide (NO) concentrations with the prevalence of obesity and abdominal obesity. We further calculated the associations in regions with different urbanicity levels characterized by both administrative classification of urban/rural regions and night light index (NLI).

However, the leakage and flammability of organic PCMs appeared as troublesome agendas that deserve attention. In this article, the strategy of constructing phase change capsules with paraffin wax (PW) core and multilayer shell was proposed aiming to address the above issues.

However, there has been no systematic monitoring and evaluation of their sustainability across time and space. Here we developed and applied a model and a sustainable development human safe operation space (SDHSOS) index to assess the sustainability capacity and development path of 149 countries from 2000 to 2018.

Herein, the combined proteomic and metabolomic approach was carried out to characterize the protein abundance and metabolic profile in watercored apple. Results demonstrated that carbohydrate metabolism was prioritized enriched in watercored apple, including highly accumulated sucrose and sugar alcohols, and the increased level of transcription factor WHIRLY2 (WHY2), which is required in sugar reallocation.

LAMP primers specific to the conserved gene were designed, and the LAMP reaction was optimized. The heating characteristics of the warmer pad were investigated.

However, the evidence on the association between O and risks of chronic kidney disease (CKD) remains insufficient and inconsistent, particularly in developing countries where there is an absence of macroscopic investigations at a large population scale. Based on data from a representative nationwide cross-sectional CKD survey in 13 Chinese provinces and a high resolution O air pollution inversion dataset, generalized linear models were used to evaluate the associations of O concentration with prevalence of CKD.

Methods: Clinical data of dumbbell-shaped lumbar tumors in patients treated with PAMT or PTET in our hospital between June 2015 and November 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The gross total resection (GTR) rate, operation time, estimated blood loss, postoperative hospital stay (PHS), postoperative neurological function, and spinal stability were compared between the 2 surgical methods.
The multiple functions of peptides released from proteins have immense potential in food and health. In the past few decades, research interest in bioactive peptides of plant origin has surged tremendously, and new plant-derived peptides are continually discovered with advances in extraction, purification, and characterization technology. Plant-derived peptides are mainly extracted from dicot plants possessing bioactive functions, including antioxidant, cholesterol-lowering, and antihypertensive activities.

At present, clinicians have poor recognition of the tumor, the epidemiology, diagnosis, and treatment of this disease have yet not been established.
Case Presentation: In this report, we depict the clinical and imaging characteristics of a 37-year-old man presenting with a primarily cystic UPS.

As a common malignant tumor worldwide, the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains unsatisfactory, even though treatment methods have improved. Despite the developments in traditional chemotherapy and emerging targeted immunotherapy, the problem of recurrence and metastasis of HCC and adverse effects on survival and prognosis are still serious. Drug resistance is a daunting challenge that impedes HCC treatment.

Background: Accumulated researches revealed that both fine particulate matter (PM) and sunlight exposure may be a risk factor for obesity, while researches regarding the potential effect modification by sunlight exposure on the relationship between PM and obesity are limited. We aim to investigate whether the effect of PM on obesity is affected by sunlight exposure among the general population in China.
Methods: A sample of 47,204 adults in China was included.
