Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is prevalent and aggressive, especially when patients have distant lung metastases, which often places patients into advanced stages. By identifying prognostic variables for lung metastasis in GC patients, it may be possible to construct a good prediction model for both overall survival (OS) and the cumulative incidence prediction (CIP) plot of the tumour.
Aim: To investigate the predictors of GC with lung metastasis (GCLM) to produce nomograms for OS and generate CIP by using cancer-specific survival (CSS) data.
Background: Fat replacers prepared from polysaccharides and proteins possess functional properties of both polysaccharides and proteins. In this study, an aqueous system of barley β-glucan (BBG) and gluten was prepared. The interactions between BBG and gluten (with/without extrusion modification) were studied.

The effect of flour bran content on the degree of dark spot formation in fresh wet noodle sheets (FWNS) is investigated to explain this phenomenon.
Results: Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) observation revealed that the wheat bran particles were responsible for the formation of dark spots on FWNS, with each bran particle core generating a single dark spot.
Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) has been identified as a potentially promising therapeutic target in acute pancreatitis (AP). However, the role of intestinal TLR4 in AP and AP-associated gut injury remains unclear. This study aimed to explore the relationship between intestinal TLR4 and gut microbiota during AP.

Methods: C57BL/6 mice were randomized to the normal control (CON) group, the AP (induced by cerulein injection) (CAE) group, and AP pretreated with Se@SiO nanocomposites at 1 and 2 mg/kg (CAE + 1 or 2 mg/kg Se@SiO ) groups, respectively. Serum levels of amylase and lipase, inflammatory cytokines (interleukin [IL]-6, IL-1β and tumor necrosis factor [TNF]-α), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and creatinine (Cr) were measured, and histopathology was performed to examine the tissue samples of the pancreas, lungs, kidneys and liver.
Severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) is a severe acute abdominal disease. Recent evidence shows that intestinal homeostasis is essential for the management of acute pancreatitis. Chitosan oligosaccharides (COS) possess antioxidant activity that are effective in treating various inflammatory diseases.

The chemical mechanism that hexose oxidase recucing the melanins of dark spots was discussed basis on the UPLC-TOF-MS analysis of the polyphenol oxidase (PPO)-catechol system. In the process of PPO browning, hexose oxidase catalyzed the oxidation of o-benzoquinone derivatives and their oligomers, hindering the formation of melanins.

To release the chemical formation mechanism of the dark spots formed on FWNS, the reconstituted FWNS and PPO-catechol reaction systems were prepared. Different from the overall color change of FWNS, almost all the melanins in dark spots were indirect products of PPO catalysis.

A large sample study is necessary to assess the proportion of uterine malignant tumors found in patients with laparoscopic myomectomy.
Methods: A national multicenter study was performed in China.
Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) β-glucan (BBG) is of interest as a result of its health benefits, but BBG presents significant disruptions on the gluten network, with a negative impact on food texture. To clarify the interaction between BBG and gluten in dough, the dynamic rheological, thermochemical process of gluten and microstructure of dough with BBG during heating were detected.
