Aim: To observe the clinical outcomes of 30-gauge (G) needle-guided 10-0 prolene suture purse-string pupilloplasty for atonic pupil management.
Methods: Eight patients with atonic pupils who underwent suture purse-string pupilloplasty were retrospectively analyzed. Preoperative data and at least 6mo of postoperative data were collected from all the patients.
Upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) have been used as a potential nanocarrier for photosensitizers (PSs), which have demonstrated a great deal of promise in achieving an effective photodynamic therapy (PDT) for deep-seated tumors. However, overcoming biological barriers to achieve mitochondria-targeted PDT remains a major challenge. Herein, CD44- and mitochondria-targeted photodynamic nanosystems were fabricated through the self-assembly of hyaluronic acid-conjugated-methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)-diethylenetriamine-grafted-(chlorin e6-dihydrolipoic acid-(3-carboxypropyl)triphenylphosphine bromide) polymeric ligands (HA-c-mPEG-Deta--(Ce6-DHLA-TPP)) and NaErF:Tm@NaYF core-shell UCNPs (termed CMPNs).

A total of 228 healthy subjects (aged 4 to 86 years) were recruited and divided into four groups (G1, <21 years; G2, 21-40 years; G3, 41-60 years; and G4, 61-86 years). The clinical characteristics of the participants were recorded, and parameters including the number of vortex vein roots (NVVR), the central vortex vein diameter (CVVD), the mean root area of the vortex vein (MRAVV), and the weighted mean of the thickest branch diameter (WMTBD) were obtained by marking the vortex veins on indocyanine green angiography (ICGA).

However, the specific molecular mechanism of HQT in RA has not been well studied. In the present study, LPS-treated human rheumatoid fibroblast-like synoviocyte (FLS) MH7A cells and collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) mice were utilized as and models.

Accumulating evidence suggests a role for traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the modulation of Th17/Treg axis, but a comprehensive overview which summarizes this field hitherto is lacked. This paper performs a systematic literature review of the regulatory effects of TCM on the imbalance of Th17/Treg axis and its potential mechanisms.

In this study, to assess histone H3K9 acetylation levels in promoters I and II of the gdnf gene in normal human brain tissue, low- and high-grade glioma tissues, normal rat astrocytes, and rat C6 glioblastoma cells, we employed chromatin immunoprecipitation-polymerase chain reaction (ChIP-PCR), real-time PCR, and a pGL3 dual fluorescence reporter system. We also investigated the influence of treatment with curcumin, a histone acetyltransferase inhibitor, and trichostatin A (TSA), a deacetylase inhibitor, on promoter acetylation and activity and messenger RNA (mRNA) expression level of the gdnf gene in C6 cells.

Gdnf mRNA is aberrantly increased in glioma cells, but the underlying transcription mechanism is unclear. Here, we found that although the base sequence in the promoter region of the gdnf gene was unchanged in glioma cells, there were significant changes in the methylation level of promoter region I (P < 0.

Objective: To determine the biological traits and optimal condition for the induction and differentiation of endothelial progenitor cells from peripheral blood in healthy adults.
Methods: Mononuclear cells isolated from peripheral blood of healthy adults were cultured in M199 medium supplemented with VEGF, bFGF, IGF-1, and EGF. The appearing time of cell clusters or spindle-shaped cells was recorded respectively.
