Article Synopsis
  • A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of intravenous magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) in reducing death and cerebral palsy in babies born to women at risk of preterm delivery.
  • The analysis included 7 studies, which found that MgSO4 significantly lowered the incidence of fetal neurological impairment but did not significantly impact neonatal mortality rates.
  • The researchers concluded that while MgSO4 may improve outcomes related to cerebral palsy, more studies are needed to confirm these findings and explore why mortality rates were unaffected.
