Aim(s): To adapt and validate the HSOPS 2 instrument for the Italian context and to describe the current patient safety culture amongst healthcare personnel working in Italian hospitals.

Design: Cross-sectional study.

Methods: We adapted and validated the HSOPS 2 instrument following the COSMIN guidelines: we performed a forward-backward translation, calculated the content validity index, evaluated face validity, acceptability (percentage of participants responding to all items on the questionnaire and to every specific item), construct validity (confirmatory factor analysis), and internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha for each dimension).

A case report of the female world record holder 1500m to marathon in the 75+ age category.

This study assessed the cardiorespiratory fitness, running biomechanics, muscle architecture and training characteristics of a 76-year-old female runner who currently holds the world record 1500m to marathon in the women's 75-79 age category. maximal oxygen uptake (V̇O), running economy (RE), lactate threshold (LT) and lactate turnpoint (LTP), maximal heart rate (HR), and running biomechanics were measured during a discontinuous treadmill protocol followed by a maximal incremental test. Muscle architecture was assessed using ultrasound.

Healthcare Workers' Attitudes Toward Older Adults' Nutrition: A Descriptive Cross-Sectional Study in Italian Nursing Homes.

Malnutrition is a widespread issue among older people, significantly impacting health outcomes. Nutritional interventions can improve health, but their success often depends on the attitudes and knowledge of healthcare workers. This study assesses healthcare workers' attitudes toward older people's nutrition using the validated Italian version of the Staff Attitudes to Nutritional Nursing Geriatric care scale (SANN-G), focusing on staff in nursing homes in Northern Italy.

2024 Standardization of Polysomnography Reports - A Consensus of the Brazilian Sleep Association.

 The absence of standardized reporting for sleep medicine exams across different laboratories can lead to misinterpretation, diagnostic inconsistencies, and suboptimal treatment strategies. This document seeks to establish guidelines for the development of sleep study reports, covering recordings from studies of types 1 to 4, and represents the official position of Associação Brasileira do Sono (ABS; Brazilian Sleep Association) on the standardization of polysomnography (PSG) and cardiorespiratory polygraphies.  The recommendations for the items to be reported in PSG records were developed by means of a Delphi study, comprised of two voting rounds.

Oxidative Stress in the Murine Model of Extraparenchymal Neurocysticercosis.

Oxidative stress is associated with several infectious diseases, as well as the severity of inflammatory reactions. The control of inflammation during parasite destruction is a target of neurocysticercosis treatment, as inflammation is strongly related to symptom severity. In this study, we investigated the presence of malondialdehyde and protein carbonyl, two by-products of reactive oxygen species (ROS), in an experimental model of extraparenchymal neurocysticercosis.

Murine Extraparenchymal Neurocysticercosis: Appropriate Model for Evaluating Anthelminthic and Anti-Inflammatory Treatment Schedules.

Background: Experimental models of neurocysticercosis (NCC) are helpful for an improved understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms of human diseases and for testing novel therapeutic approaches. Controlling inflammation without reducing the effectiveness of anthelmintics is an important challenge in treating neurocysticercosis. This study investigates the effects of currently used drugs (Albendazole and Dexamethasone) in treating murine extraparenchymal NCC.

Trends in Hospitalization and Mortality Rates Associated with Subarachnoid Hemorrhage and Unruptured Cerebral Aneurysms in Brazil.

Background: Epidemiology of spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and unruptured intracranial aneurysm (UIA) is valuable for determining neurosurgical and general health care effectiveness. There is an information gap regarding these conditions in middle- and low-income countries. Therefore, we aimed to investigate hospitalization and mortality rates for SAH and UIA in Brazil from 2011 to 2019.

This paper presents an overview of recent hardware extensions and data analysis developments to the Wendelstein 7-X visible core spectroscopy systems. These include upgrades to prepare the in-vessel components for long-pulse operation, nine additional spectrometers, a new line of sight array for passive spectroscopy, and a coherence imaging charge exchange spectroscopy diagnostic. Progress in data analysis includes ion temperatures and densities from multiple impurity species, a statistical comparison with x-ray crystal spectrometer measurements, neutral density measurements from thermal passive Balmer-alpha emission, and a Bayesian analysis of active hydrogen emission, which is able to infer electron density and main ion temperature profiles.

Decompressive Craniectomy in Patients with Malignant Stroke with Additional Vascular Territory.

Background: Decompressive craniectomy substantially reduces mortality and disability rates following a malignant stroke. This procedure remains a life-saving option, especially in contexts with little access to mechanical thrombectomy despite downward trends in the performance of decompressive craniectomy due to discussions on the acceptance of living with severe disabilities. However, the outcomes of the surgery in cases involving concomitant occlusion of anterior or posterior cerebral arteries have not been extensively studied.

Nonaneurysmal Perimesencephalic Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Associated with an Anomalous Anastomotic Cisternal Vein.

A 54-year-old woman with no relevant medical history presented with severe headache, nausea, and vomiting for 8 days. Imaging examination revealed a subarachnoid hemorrhage in the left interpeduncular cistern without aneurysms. Computed tomography angiography and digital subtraction angiography found an anomalous vein near the site of the hemorrhagic clots, indicating abnormalities in cerebral venous drainage that provided an anastomosis between the drainage system of the deep middle cerebral, petrosal, and lateral mesencephalic veins.

Durability of Running Economy: Differences between Quantification Methods and Performance Status in Male Runners.

Introduction: Running economy (RE) deteriorates during prolonged running, although the effect of measuring energy cost (EC) or oxygen cost (OC) on the magnitude of these changes has not been investigated. Similarly, it is unknown if runners' performance level may influence the deterioration of RE during prolonged running. The aims of this study were to compare changes in EC and OC measurements of RE during a prolonged run in a large cohort of well-trained male runners, and to compare changes between runners of high- and low-performance standard.

Nurses' attitudes towards COVID-19 vaccines: A qualitative study (PROACTIVE-study).
