Correlation of the fluorescein dye disappearance test and endoscopic dye transit time in patients after surgery for nasolacrimal duct obstruction.

Purpose: To correlate fluorescein dye disappearance test (FDDT) grades and endoscopic dye transit times (EDTT) in patients with patent osteotomies after nasolacrimal duct obstruction surgery (NLDO).

Design: Cross-sectional study.

Methods: All adult patients with patent osteotomies post-external dacryocystorhinostomy (Ex-DCR) or post-endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (EDCR) for NLDO were included in this cross-sectional investigation.

Introduction  The emergence of electronic cigarettes as the "healthier" version of smoking has been popular, especially among young adults. However, knowledge about the potential effects of e-cigarettes on ocular structures is scarce. Objective  To compare the mean change in dry eye parameters between e-cigarette smokers and non-smokers and to correlate between dry eye parameters with device power output.

Staphylococcus aureus Orbital Abscess With Impending Compressive Optic Neuropathy in an Immunocompetent Individual With Subclinical Bacteriuria: A Case Report.

This is a case of an orbital abscess evidenced radiologically in a 41-year-old female with no comorbidities. She was healthy and had no history of trauma or infection of the adjacent structures. She denied having symptoms of upper or lower respiratory and urinary tract infections.

Post-COVID-19 Condition Characterization: Insights From a Cross-Sectional Study in a Malaysian Rehabilitation Center.

Although post-COVID-19 condition (PCC) is a major public health concern, studies on PCC in Southeast Asia are lacking. This study aimed to describe PCC symptoms and its functional impact among COVID-19 survivors undergoing outpatient rehabilitation in Malaysia. We evaluated 3037 patients with confirmed COVID-19, referred between November 2020 and September 2022, 3 to 6 months after infection.

Bilateral Primary Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma of the Lacrimal Sac: A Case Report.

Primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the lacrimal sac is extremely rare, usually representing secondary involvement of systemic malignancy. We report a case of bilateral primary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma of the lacrimal sac presenting with bilateral medial canthal swelling for one month which was preceded by a history of chronic bilateral epiphora and a recurrent history of dacryocystitis. The symptoms partially responded to systemic antibiotics for the past three years.

Successful Management of Malignant Glaucoma With Irido-Zonulo-Hyaloidotomy and Complete Pars Plana Vitrectomy.

Successful irido-zonulo-hyaloidotomy in combination with complete pars plana vitrectomy in malignant glaucoma may lead to better intraocular pressure (IOP) control and a promising visual outcome. We report a case of an 81-year-old woman who presented with a ten-day history of right eye redness and blurring of vision associated with throbbing pain. An ocular examination revealed right-eye visual acuity (VA) of 6/60.

Retained Metallic Intraocular Foreign Body With Excellent Visual Outcome.

A healthy 25-year-old gentleman sustained a left eye perforating injury involving a metallic intraocular foreign body. Upon examination, his best-corrected visual acuity was 6/6 in the right eye and 1/60 in the left eye. There was a full thickness cornea-scleral laceration wound with uveal tissue prolapse at 7 o'clock.

Septic arthritis of temporomandibular joint.

Septic arthritis (SA) occurrence for temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is rare. Pain, fever, swelling or loss of TMJ function are the typical presentation. The more common diagnosis for these presentations is internal derangement, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Factors associated with ultrasound diagnosed neurogenic bladder complications following spinal cord injury.

Introduction: Neurogenic bladder (NB) is a recognized secondary medical impairment following spinal cord injury (SCI). Ultrasound (US) of the kidneys, ureters and bladder (KUB) has been recommended as a useful, non-invasive surveillance method with good diagnostic sensitivity. This study aims to understand US diagnosed NB complications and identify its associated factors.

Introduction: This is a cross-sectional study of 1 year duration (August 2013 to August 2014). The objective of the study was to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of single channel cystometry (SCC) for confirmation of neurogenic bladder following spinal cord injury.

Retrospective review on effectiveness of high-amplitude penile vibratory stimulation for conservative sperm retrieval in anejaculatory men with spinal cord injury: an Asian case series.

High-amplitude penile vibratory stimulation (PVS) is recommended as the first line method for conservative sperm retrieval in anejaculatory Caucasian men with spinal cord injury (SCI). Evidence of its effectiveness in Asian population is lacking. We described the effectiveness of high amplitude PVS for conservative sperm retrieval in the anejaculatory local men with SCI.
