The Luttinger model is a paradigm for the breakdown due to interactions of the Fermi liquid description of one-dimensional massless Dirac fermions. Attempts to discretize the model on a one-dimensional lattice have failed to reproduce the established bosonization results because of the fermion-doubling obstruction: a local and symmetry-preserving discretization of the Hamiltonian introduces a spurious second species of low-energy excitations, while a nonlocal discretization opens a single-particle gap at the Dirac point. Here, we show how to work around this obstruction by discretizing both space and time to obtain a local Lagrangian for a helical Luttinger liquid with Hubbard interaction.

Developmental noise is considered as a permissible level of entropy, as a compromise between the cost and needed precision of the realization of genetic information. In terms of entropy, noise is a measure of acceptable level of disorder to ensure a reliable system operation. Developmental noise plays a role in the observed phenotypic diversity and is associated with other indicators of the biological system condition.

This work uses green sustainable reactions twice. Firstly, it is microwave synthesis: 2,4,6-tribiphenyl-4-yl-1,3,5-triazine and similar compounds were prepared in a closed microwave reactor in n-octane by the Friedel-Crafts reaction. Second, a hybrid electrocatalyst for the highly demanded electrochemical reaction of nitrate reduction to ammonia (NORR) was prepared based on this material.

Arterial hypertension (AH) is a leading risk factor for cardiovascular diseases including cerebrovascular complications. Strokes and/or vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) are considered as a clinical sign of brain damage as a target organ in hypertension. To identify and assess the severity of VCI, patients with hypertension should undergo a neuropsychological assessment.

Nonlinear absorption of metal-halide perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) makes them an ideal candidate for applications which require multiphoton-excited photoluminescence. By doping perovskite NCs with lanthanides, their emission can be extended into the near-infrared (NIR) spectral region. We demonstrate how the combination of Yb doping and bandgap engineering of cesium lead halide perovskite NCs performed by anion exchange (from Cl to Br) leads to efficient and tunable emitters that operate under two-photon excitation in the NIR spectral region.

In this review, we summarize and discuss our experimental data published in a number of papers on the transfer reactions of polymer chains in the polymerization of ethylene, propylene, and hexene-1, and the copolymerization of ethylene with α-olefins over multisite supported titanium-magnesium catalysts (TMC). Three groups of transfer reactions are discussed in the review: (1) transfer reactions with AlEt cocatalyst, (2) transfer reactions with hydrogen, and (3) transfer reactions with participation of α-olefins in the case of ethylene copolymerization with α-olefins. We have found polymerization conditions where it is possible to observe heterogeneity of active sites of TMC for all three groups of the indicated reactions.

Data are presented on the great differences of the kinetics of hexene-1 and propylene polymerization over the same supported titanium-magnesium catalyst, as well as molecular weight and molecular weight distribution of the polymers produced. It is found that the composition of cocatalysts (AlEt or Al(i-Bu) greatly affects the kinetics of hexene-1 polymerization and molecular weight distribution of polyhexene, contrary to data obtained at propylene polymerization. The presence of hydrogen at hexene-1 polymerization leads to a much higher increase of activity in comparison with propylene polymerization.

In recent years, Raman spectroscopy has been used to study biological tissues. However, the analysis of experimental Raman spectra is still challenging, since the Raman spectra of most biological tissue components overlap significantly and it is difficult to separate individual components. New methods of analysis are needed that would allow for the decomposition of Raman spectra into components and the evaluation of their contribution.

Ethylene polymerization with bis(imino)pyridlyiron precatalysts generally produces linear polyethylene (PE) even with the presence of α-olefins because α-olefins are not incorporated into polymeric products. Interestingly, α-olefins, such as hexene-1 or butene-1, have been found to act as effective chain transfer agents in the ethylene polymerization promoted by nonsymmetrical bis(imino)pyridyliron complexes with modified methylalumoxane (MMAO), resulting in higher catalytic activities with higher amounts of polymers with lower molecular weights, and, more importantly, narrower molecular weight distributions of the resultant polyethylenes (PE). This phenomenon confirms the assistance of α-olefins in the chain-termination reaction of iron-initiated polymerization and regeneration of the active species for further polymerization.

The conservation of an axial current modified by the gravitational chiral anomaly implies the universal transport phenomenon (kinematical vortical effect) dependent solely on medium vorticity and acceleration, but not dependent explicitly on its temperature and density. This general analysis is verified for the case of massless fermions with spin-1/2.
