Comparison of the efficacy of standard bariatric surgical procedures on Saudi population using the bariatric analysis and reporting outcome system.

To  compare the efficacy of various standard bariatric surgical procedures using the Bariatric Analysis and Reporting Outcome System (BAROS). Methods: This is a prospective, descriptive analytical study conducted in 2 medical institutions in Saudi Arabia. A total of 270 patients who had different bariatric surgery during the period between March 2010 and December 2012 were included.

Appendicitis in a malrotated gut: an unusual cause of left upper quadrant abdominal pain.

In this case report, we present a case of young male with left sided acute appendicitis who presented with left upper quadrant abdominal pain. The purpose of this report is to increase awareness in the emergency physicians and young surgeons of this rare presentation, with high suspicion of index could lead to facilitate early recognition and decrease morbidity and mortality.

Ruptured ileocolic artery aneurysm: an unusual cause of hemoperitoneum.

Ruptured aneurysm of a branch of ileocolic artery is a rare finding and is an unusual cause of haemoperitoneum. Rapid diagnosis, and surgical or endovascular intervention are necessary to avoid devastating consequences and high mortality rates following an emergency operation after rupture. Resection is a good choice for surgical intervention for some aneurysms that are not suitable for endovascular repair.
