Article Synopsis
  • Infective endocarditis is a serious heart infection primarily affecting heart valves, and while it commonly presents with fever and murmurs, it can also lead to neurological issues, particularly in cases related to mitral stenosis.
  • A young patient with a history of severe mitral stenosis showed unusual symptoms, primarily febrile postural instability, leading to a diagnosis of infective endocarditis which was effectively treated with antibiotics, resulting in improvement before referral for surgical intervention.
  • Although infective endocarditis due to mitral stenosis is rare, especially in developed regions, its occurrence is more common in developing countries, highlighting the need for clinicians to be aware of its symptoms for early diagnosis and treatment.
