Guillain-Barré syndrome in ulcerative colitis and SARS-CoV-2 infection: a case report and literature review.

Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) occurrence is rare during inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and SARS-CoV-2 infection. Its association with thrombotic vascular events, which are common during these two entities, is extremely rare. We report an exceptional association of GBS and cerebral venous thrombosis in a 28-year-old woman with active ulcerative colitis and no previous history of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination.

Unexpected isolated hepatic tuberculosis discovered during laparoscopic cholecystectomy: A case report.

Isolated hepatic tuberculosis is a rare form of extrapulmonary tuberculosis. We report an exceptional case of a 51-year-old female patient complaining from right upper abdominal quadrant pain, who underwent laparoscopic surgery for millimetric gallbladder polyps. Preoperative ultrasound hepatic morphology and biochemical hepatic tests revealed no abnormalities.

Introduction: Vitamin D plays a role in regulating the immune response through an immunomodulatory effect, and is probably involved in the pathophysiology of Crohn's disease (CD).

Aim: to assess vitamin D status in patients with CD as well as in healthy controls and to determine associated factors of vitamin D deficiency in patients with CD.

Background: Nephrotic syndrome (NS) is associated with a hypercoagulable state and may be complicated by thrombotic events. Venous thrombosis is well-acknowledged, while arterial thrombosis is rather unusual.

Case Presentation: We present the case of a 20-year-old woman with a 12-year history of idiopathic NS revealed by extensive cerebral venous thrombosis with pulmonary embolism treated with anticoagulation therapy and oral corticosteroid therapy followed by mycophenolate mofetil (MMF).

Pseudoachalasia as the first manifestation of signet-ring cell duodenal carcinoma.

Introduction: Pseudoachalasia is a rare clinical condition, often caused by malignancy. Rarely, this entity can reveal the underlying neoplasia. To the best of our knowledge, we report the first case of pseudoachalasia revealing a metastatic signet-ring cell carcinoma of the non-ampullary duodenum.

Acute myeloid leukemia after 10 years of azathioprine treatment for Crohn's disease.

Background: Azathioprine, which is an immunosuppressive agent commonly used for chronic inflammatory bowel disease, may be associated with an increased risk of certain cancers such as hematologic malignancies.

Case Report: A 50-year-old man with a 27-year history of Crohn's disease had been under azathioprine treatment at a dose of 2.5 mg/kg/day (150 mg/day) since 2007, after ileocecal resection to avoid postoperative recurrences.

Pathologic complete response to neoadjuvant imatinib of a gastric stromal tumor with concomitant mutations in : A case report and literature review.

Key Clinical Message: We report the first case of pathologic complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant imatinib in a gastric stromal tumor harboring mutations in both exons 11 and 9. The significance of this co-occurrence is unknown and might increase the responsiveness of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) to imatinib.

Background: The development of direct-acting antivirals directed against the Hepatitis C Virus has dramatically modified the therapeutic approach to chronic hepatic viral disease. Larger use of such drugs has also led to increasing reports about their adverse effects. This report aimed to describe a case of leucocytoclasic vasculitis following treatment based on the sofosbuvir/ledipasvir regimen with complete disappearance shortly after withdrawal in a 61-year-old patient treated for genotype 1 hepatitis C.

An Acute Jejunojejunal Intussusception Revealing a Metastatic Combined Lung Cancer.

Intussusception is a relatively common disease in pediatric age but it is uncommon in adults. We report a case of a 49-year-old male who presented with an acute jejunojejunal intussusception revealed by abdominal pain and vomiting. He underwent an en bloc resection, and pathological findings concluded to a metastasis of a pulmonary combined small cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma.

Anemia-induced liver injury: A rare case revealing glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

Hypoxic hepatitis may occur due to hemodynamic mechanisms of hypoxia secondary to anemia without any context of reduced blood flow, respiratory failure, or shock state. Etiology of anemia should be investigated in order to avoid recurrence.

Evaluation of two nutritional scores' association with systemic treatment toxicity and survival in metastatic colorectal cancer: an AGEO prospective multicentre study.

Introduction: The Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is currently the standard nutritional assessment tool for patients with cancer. In a retrospective assessment of a prospective cohort, we showed that the Nutritional Risk Index (NRI) seemed to be associated with treatment toxicity and survival in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC).

Objective: The objective of this study was to compare these two nutritional tools (PG-SGA and NRI) on their correlation with chemotherapy-related toxicity and survival in non-pre-treated patients with mCRC.
