Increasingly, next-generation sequencing (NGS) is becoming an invaluable tool in the diagnosis of unexplained acute neurological disorders, such as acute encephalopathy/encephalitis. Here, we describe a brief series of pediatric patients who presented at the pediatric intensive care unit with severe acute encephalopathy, initially suspected as infectious or inflammatory but subsequently diagnosed with a monogenic disorder. Rapid exome sequencing was performed during the initial hospitalization of three unrelated patients, and results were delivered within 7-21 days.

Today, in the great majority of buildings in Morocco, the exterior envelope is not insulated and is therefore not performant from a thermal point of view. This data article describes and analyses a dataset of ratios (cost by square meter that we elaborated for the estimation of the cost of buildings at an early phase of construction. The ratios also allow to take into consideration the generated cost caused by the integration of insulation materials.

Nowadays, diabetes mellitus has emerged as a significant global public health concern with a remarkable increase in its prevalence. This review article focuses on the definition of diabetes mellitus and its classification into different types, including type 1 diabetes (idiopathic and fulminant), type 2 diabetes, gestational diabetes, hybrid forms, slowly evolving immune-mediated diabetes, ketosis-prone type 2 diabetes, and other special types. Diagnostic criteria for diabetes mellitus are also discussed.

Zinc finger proteins (ZFP) play important roles in cellular processes. The DNA binding region of ZFP consists of 3 zinc finger DNA binding domains connected by amino acid linkers, the sequence TGQKP connects ZF1 and ZF2, and TGEKP connects ZF2 with ZF3. Linkers act to tune the zinc finger protein in the right position to bind its DNA target, the type of amino acid residues and length of linkers reflect on ZF1-ZF2-ZF3 interactions and contribute to the search and recognition process of ZF protein to its DNA target.

The effect of physicochemical treatment on pectin yield, degree of esterification, along with the kinetics and thermodynamics characteristics was investigated in the present study. Several extraction parameters were observed to have impacted the yield and degree of esterification significantly, and the best extraction condition was as follows: agitation rate of 250 rpm, temperature of 70 °C, extraction time of 120 min, pH 2, and liquid to solid ratio of 10 v/w which has resulted in 28.20% of pectin yield, with DE (degree of esterification) of 57.

Extracellular matrix (ECM) has been utilized as a biological scaffold for tissue engineering applications in a variety of body systems, due to its bioactivity and biocompatibility. In the current study we developed a modified protocol for the efficient and reproducible derivation of mesenchymal progenitor cells (MPCs) from human embryonic stem cells as well as human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) originating from hair follicle keratinocytes (HFKTs). ECM was produced from these MPCs and characterized in comparison to adipose mesenchymal stem cell ECM, demonstrating robust ECM generation by the excised HFKT-iPSC-MPCs.
