Reliability of high-resolution CT scan in diagnosis of ossicular tympanosclerosis.

Objectives: To evaluate the reliability of high-resolution CT scans (HRCT scans) in the diagnosis of tympanosclerosis and to determine its benefit to predict the post-surgical hearing outcome based on comparing radiological and surgical findings.

Methods: A retrospective study at a tertiary institute included 940 ears that underwent tyampanoplasty for chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM) between January 2013 and March 2017. Preoperative temporal bone HRCT scans were analyzed to check for the prediction of tympanosclerosis and ossicular fixation.

The benefit of trans-attic endoscopic control of ossicular prosthesis after cholesteatoma surgery.

Objective: To show the efficiency of using transmastoid atticotomy (TMA) endoscopy on the outcome of ossiculoplasty in patients with cholesteatoma. TMA is often performed as part of the surgical management of patients with middle ear cholesteatoma extending to the epitympanum. TMA can also be used as an access for endoscopic view to confirm the right alignment and stability of the ossicular prosthesis because the reconstruction of the tympanic membrane will obscure the visualization of the prosthesis.

Recurrent Post Tonsillectomy Secondary Hemorrhage in Patients with Factor XIII Deficiency: A Case Series and Review of Literature.

BACKGROUND Post-tonsillectomy hemorrhage (PTH) has been reported in the literature as a serious complication after tonsillectomy that has high morbidity and can be life threatening. In cases of recurrent secondary PTH, one should consider coagulopathies as the hidden pathology. Factor XIII deficiency is very rare, suggested to be present 1 in 2 million people.
