Background: Severe mental illnesses (SMIs), including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder affect patients significantly. Gender has been identified as a key factor influencing the experience of SMIs with notable disparities in prevalence, symptoms, and treatment outcomes. Additionally, the quality of life (QoL) and social support for patients with SMIs can vary based on gender.

Objective: DNA methylation, a major epigenetic reprogramming mechanism, contributes to the increased prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Based on genome-wide association studies, polymorphisms in are associated with T2DM. Our previous studies showed that gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) causes apoptosis in β-cells, leading to a reduction in their number in pancreatic tissue of GDM-exposed adult rat offspring.

Development and Clinical Translation of Approved Gene Therapy Products for Genetic Disorders.

The field of gene therapy is striving more than ever to define a path to the clinic and the market. Twenty gene therapy products have already been approved and over two thousand human gene therapy clinical trials have been reported worldwide. These advances raise great hope to treat devastating rare and inherited diseases as well as incurable illnesses.

The comparison of general health in athlete and non-athlete women.

The aim of the present study was to compare the general health in athlete and non-athlete women. The statistical population of the present study included all athlete and non-athlete women in Shiraz, Iran. The sample consisted of 764 subjects (382 athletes, 382 non- athletes) that the athletes sample selected by Gerjesy and Morgan sample size table and non-athletes sample selected by purposeful sampling method.

From formulation of acrylamide-based hydrogels to their optimization for drug release using response surface methodology.

This study conducted on the structure of modified acrylamide-based hydrogel by synthesizing the nano composites. The hydrogels employed in this study were provided through a combination of acrylamide monomers, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (NaCMC) and magnesium oxide (MgO) nanoparticles by crosslinking polymerization. N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine and ammonium persulfate as the initiator was applied in the structure of the polymer.

Gestational diabetes influences the expression of hypertrophic genes in left ventricle of rat's offspring.

Objectives: Gestational diabetes increases the risk of congenital heart disease in the offspring, but the molecular mechanism underlying this process remains unclear. Therefore, the current study was conducted to assess the effects of induced gestational diabetes on expression of some involved genes in cardiac hypertrophy in the offspring of diabetic rats.

Materials And Methods: Diabetes was induced in 40 adult Wistar rats by intraperitoneal injection of 45 mg/kg of streptozotocin.

Synthesis of chitosan based magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers for selective separation and spectrophotometric determination of histamine in tuna fish.

A novel chitosan molecularly imprinted polymers (CHI/MIPs) coated on FeO magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) for selective solid phase extraction (SPE) of histamine (His) was synthesized by cross-linking of CHI with (3-Glycidyloxypropyl) trimethoxysilane (GPTMS) in the presence of His as the template molecule, and GPTMS/MNPS. Synthesized sorbent was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, FT-IR and via adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherms. The application of this sorbent was investigated in preconcentration and spectrophotometric determination of His by charge transfer complexation.

Introduction: High concentration of blood lead is accompanied by adverse health effects on growth of foetus and the newborn.

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine umbilical cord blood lead level and its relationship with birth weight, length and head circumference of the newborns in Abadan, Iran.

Materials And Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 3 ml blood was collected from the umbilical cord vein in 147 newborns, immediately after the birth.

Background: Although honeybee venom (BV) has been reported to induce apoptosis in different types of cancerous cells, its synergistic effects with customary anti-cancer drugs remain largely unknown. In the present study, we evaluated the cytotoxic effect of BV alone (as a natural product) and the synergistic cytological effects of this component in combination with [Pd (bpy) (Pi-Pydtc)]NO3 - a novel palladium complex on human T-cell lymphoblastic leukemia cells. To investigate the cytotoxic effect of the BV alone and in combination with palladium complex on MOLT-4 cells MTT assay was performed.

Aquaporin-1 (AQP1) is a water channel that is highly expressed on the apical side of the choroid plexus epithelium (CP) and thought to be one of the major pathways for the high water permeability of this structure. Blockade of AQP1 in the CP reduce the production of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Downregulation of AQP1 might be protective against some neurological disorders correlated with increased intracranial pressure and/or poor drainage of CSF.

Studies have suggested that OCPs may affect the normal function of the human and wildlife endocrine systems.

Correlation between dietary zinc intakes and its serum levels with depression scales in young female students.

It has been suggested that mood disorders and depressive status may be accompanied by lowered zinc status in the body, and adequate consumption of zinc increases a general perceived well-being. The main objective of this study was to assess the correlation between serum zinc concentrations and dietary zinc intakes with depression scores in university female students. In the first phase, Beck's depression questionnaire was applied in a random sampling of 308 selected 20-25-year-old female students (one third of total students in Ahvaz Jondi-Shapour University of Medical Sciences Golestan dormitories) to assess the major depressive disorder (MDD) scales.

Effects of aspirin and celecoxib on rigidity in a rat model of Parkinson's disease.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a degenerative neurodopaminergic disease in nigrostriatum pathway of human and is responsible for most of the movement disorders. Increasing evidence suggests that an inflammatory reaction accompanies the pathological processes caused by Cyclooxygenase (COX) seen in many neurodegenerative disorders, including PD and according to the recent researches chronic use of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) decreases the risk of PD in human. In the study the rat left Substantia Nigra Pars Compacta (SNc) have been destroyed using electrical lesion (1 mA; DC; 8 Sec) to induce PD model.
