Background: was used traditionally as laxative in pregnant women. Nevertheless, its fetal and maternal effects in pregnancy have not been studied yet.
Methods: Oral (Lethal Dose, 50%) LD50 was determined in mice.
Background: Adding pulsation to the Fontan circulation might change the fate of patients palliated by this procedure. Our aim was to compare the pulsatility index (PI) of the pulmonary artery (PA) between the various modifications of Fontan palliation.
Methods: Doppler-derived PI was measured in PA branches of a cohort of 28 patients palliated by 6 modifications of Fontan procedure.
Research has linked family risk (FR) of reading difficulties (RD) with children's difficulties in emergent literacy development. This study is the first to apply parents' self-report of RD as a proxy for FR in a large sample (n = 1171) in order to test group differences in children's emergent literacy. Emergent literacy, the home literacy environment and children's interest in literacy and letters were compared across different groups of FR children around the school entry.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA series of 2(3H)-thiazole thiones 3-5 was synthesized and evaluated for tyrosinase inhibition and DPPH radical scavenging activities. Among them, 3-methyl-4-phenyl-2(3H)-thiazole thione (4a) showed good tyrosinase inhibitory activity, even better than that of the well-known tyrosinase inhibitor, namely, kojic acid. From the structure-activity point of view, although it was found that the phenolic hydroxyl group in prototype 3-5 might contribute to the scavenging activity against DPPH radicals, there was no correlation between the potency of tyrosinase inhibition and the presence of the phenolic moiety.
