Article Synopsis
  • * These nutrient-starved cancer cells showed increased amounts and sizes of lysosomes, which were primarily located near the nucleus, due to a boost in the protein Rab7a responsible for lysosomal trafficking.
  • * The acidic environment of lysosomes in these cells can trap certain drugs like doxorubicin, contributing to drug resistance, but this resistance can be mitigated by using a lysosomal inhibitor, bafilomycin A1, which, along with 5-Fluorouracil, significantly reduced microtumor volume in tests.

Previously, some allergic conditions involving pruritus have been linked to migraine, raising the possibility that migraine and itching may be governed by similar underlying mechanisms. We aimed to investigate the efficacy of Lasmiditan, a highly selective agonist of the 5-hydroxytryptamine 1F (5-HT1F) receptor and a recently approved medication for the treatment of migraine headaches, in ameliorating serotonergic itching. Forty animals were employed in the present study (n = 40).

The respiratory tract is commonly affected in multisystem disorders. Although many drugs have been developed to target various components of these diseases, there is still a need for effective treatments that can address both respiratory and non-respiratory symptoms. Bromhexine and ambroxol are mucolytic agents with a good safety profile that are widely used to treat respiratory conditions.

Objectives: Research has demonstrated that chronic stress experienced early in life can lead to impairments in memory and learning. These deficits are attributed to an imbalance in the interaction between glucocorticoids, the end product of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, and glucocorticoid receptors in brain regions responsible for mediating memory, such as the hippocampus. This imbalance can result in detrimental conditions like neuroinflammation.

Tryptophan metabolism along the kynurenine pathway is of central importance for the immune function. It prevents hyperinflammation and induces long-term immune tolerance. Accumulating evidence also demonstrates cytoprotective and immunomodulatory properties of kynurenine pathway in conditions affecting either central or peripheral nervous system as well as other conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Background: Acute mesenteric ischemia is known as a life threatening condition. Re-establishment of blood flow in this condition can lead to mesenteric ischemia reperfusion (MIR) injury which is accompanied by inflammatory response. Still, clear blueprint of inflammatory mechanism underlying MIR injury has not been provided.

Medulloblastoma is a congenital brain tumor which can be associated with different congenital anomalies. However, coincidence of cerebellar medulloblastoma with sacral agenesis has not been reported so far. A variety of genetic and/or environmental predisposing factors have been proposed for both diseases.
