Using full-flow cardiopulmonary bypass, mild hypothermia and cardioplegic arrest, the aortic orifice of the aorto-left ventricular tunnel is closed with an autologous pericardial patch. After a longitudinal incision into the tunnel, a second patch of polytetrafluoroethylene is placed as far distally into the tunnel as possible to exclude most of its lumen from perfusion.

Background: Bioprosthetic valve fracturing (BVF) results in low gradients following valve-in-valve transcatheter aortic valve replacement (ViV-TAVR). For the commonly used Edwards PERIMOUNT valve data from bench-testing are lacking to provide technical specifications for successful BVF during ViV-TAVR.

Methods: Using four Perimount 19- and 21-mm valves, high-pressure balloon valvuloplasty with the True Dilatation Balloon Valvuloplasty Catheter and Atlas Gold PTA Dilatation Catheter was performed to analyze balloon-oversizing and pressure-thresholds to successfully achieve BVF.

Objectives: The use of bioprostheses in surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) has increased in younger patients. Comparative analysis of different types of bioprostheses is lacking. We aimed to compare two proprietary bioprostheses with different designs, i.

Background: Despite advances in surgical techniques, aortic reoperation is still associated with a high risk of mortality due to possible injury of the myocardium or great vessels during resternotomy.

Materials & Methods: We report the case of a giant aortic pseudoaneurysm, 17 years after the Bentall procedure in a 76-year-old male patient.

Results: Successful pseudoaneurysm resection after the Bentall procedure using the ThruPort IntraClude intra-aortic occlusion device (Edwards Lifesciences) was achieved.
