Background: Loneliness can occur at any age, but it is more prevalent among older adults due to the associated risk factors. Various interventions exist to improve this situation, but little is known about their long-term effects. Our aims were to determine if these interventions have long-lasting effects and for how long they can be sustained.

Heart failure (HF) is associated with a high prevalence of unwanted loneliness. This study aimed to assess whether unwanted loneliness was associated with adverse clinical endpoints in HF patients. Additionally, we also aimed to examine the risk factors associated with unwanted loneliness in HF.

Article Synopsis
  • * There is a noted but poorly defined connection between GD and cutaneous keratinocyte carcinomas, specifically non-melanoma skin cancers (NMSCs), with very few studies highlighting this relationship between 1983 and 2024.
  • * GD has been misdiagnosed as various NMSCs, and understanding this connection could provide insights into its underlying mechanisms, possibly reclassifying GD as a unique syndrome.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates whether early intensive lipid-lowering therapy can help achieve lower LDL cholesterol levels in patients who have suffered an acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
  • It evaluates the effectiveness of a combination therapy (high-potency statin, bempedoic acid, and ezetimibe) compared to standard guideline-recommended treatment on patients at risk for high LDL levels.
  • The primary goal is to see if this intensive treatment can lead to at least 33% of patients reaching LDL levels below 55 mg/dL within 8 weeks after their AMI.

Introduction And Objectives: Carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125), a biomarker associated with fluid overload, has proven useful in managing diuretic therapy in heart failure. We aimed to evaluate the impact of diuretic optimization guided by CA125 before transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) on outcomes.

Methods: This prospective interventional study enrolled patients scheduled for TAVI, in whom baseline CA125 was measured 2 weeks before TAVI.

Purpose: The paper aims to determine the anatomical results of the eyes treated by laser photocoagulation for "threshold" retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and to identify the potential risk factors for the unfavorable outcomes.

Material/method: A retrospective study including all the consecutive ROPs that were treated by laser photocoagulation between January the 1st 2006 and September the 1st 2009 has been conducted. The followed criteria has been the anatomical result after the laser treatment.

This paper presents a system for touch-less heartbeat detection and a cardiopulmonary signal modeling approach. Using a vector network analyzer, a microwave system is tested for the detection of the heartbeat signal at a distance of 1 m from a person. The proposed system shows the ability of detecting the heartbeat signals with the possibility of tuning both frequency and power.

The retinopathy of prematurity is a proliferative disease of the retinal blood vessels, occurring in the prematurely born babies. As the life support conditions for the prematurely born babies have improved, the retinopathy of prematurity has became a problem, both for the neonatologists and the ophthalmologists. This paper discusses the pathogeny, the risk factors, the classification criteria and especially the methods for the screening and therapy of this disease.

The possibilities are investigated of processing data tables issued from immunofluorescence tests for quick virologic diagnosis, from fluorimetric determinations and from spectrophotometric evaluation of electrophoregrams of serum samples from patients with or without hepatitis. Analysis was realised using microcomputer programs facilities.
