The role of emotion regulation strategies as the mediator between self-compassion and depression among undergraduates in Yunnan province, China.

Self-compassion (SC) and its influence on mental health have always been a significant focus in psychological research, especially given the alarming prevalence of depression among Chinese university students. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between SC, encompassing both self-warmth and self-coldness, and depression among Chinese undergraduates, with emotion regulation strategies (ERS) serving as a mediator. The sample comprised 21,353 undergraduates from Yunnan Province, China, with data collected at two time points (T1 and T2).

Factors influencing health-related quality of life of children with overweight and obesity in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Introduction: Overweight and obesity among children may have psychological consequences, with potentially lasting effects on health-related quality of life (HRQOL). The aims of this study were to compare HRQOL across weight status among children and to determine the factors influencing HRQOL among children with overweight and obesity.

Methods: This cross-sectional study involved school children aged 9-16 years that were recruited from eight randomly selected primary and secondary schools in Kuala Lumpur.

Emotional intelligence impact on academic achievement and psychological well-being among university students: the mediating role of positive psychological characteristics.

The main objective of this study is to examine the relationship of emotional intelligence with psychological well-being and academic achievement through positive psychological characteristics among university students in China. The study was conducted with postgraduate and undergraduate students. The integration of emotional intelligence theory and positive psychological theory was used in this study.

Cardiometabolic risk factors among children who are affected by overweight, obesity and severe obesity.

Background: The increasing severity of obesity is expected to lead to more serious health effects. However, there is limited information on the prevalence and clinical characteristics of cardiometabolic risk factors in severely children affected by obesity in Malaysia. This baseline study aimed to investigate the prevalence of these factors and their association with obesity status among young children.

The Higher the Life Satisfaction, the Better the Psychological Capital? Life Satisfaction and Psychological Capital: A Moderated Mediation Model.

This study investigates the mediator role of attachment avoidance and the moderator role of rejection sensitivity on the links between life satisfaction and psychological capital (PsyCap). This study uses the Experiences in Close Relationship Scale, Rejection Sensitive Scale, Positive Psychological Capital Scale, and Life Satisfaction Scale among 999 Chinese young adults as subjects. The results presented that life satisfaction had a significant positive predictive effect on PsyCap.

Dietary Practices and Meal Patterns among Overweight and Obese School Children in Malaysia: Baseline Data from a School-Based Intervention Study.

This study aimed to determine dietary practices and meal patterns among Malaysian overweight and obese school children at baseline. This study was part of a school-based obesity intervention study, My Body is Fit and Fabulous at School (MyBFF@school). It involved 1045 primary and 1041 secondary overweight and obese school children from a randomly selected 23 out of 1196 primary and 15 out of 416 secondary government schools in central Peninsular Malaysia.
