Rational self-medication (SM) is important for improving health outcomes and reducing drug-related issues, and a study assessed students' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding SM.
Among the 371 students surveyed, 60.64% had good knowledge and 66.8% had positive attitudes towards SM, with 55.5% practicing it in the past six months, mainly using antipyretics and vitamins.
Students identified concerns about side effects and interactions as consequences of irrational SM, and they suggested increasing awareness through health ministries and pharmaceutical companies to promote better practices.
