Paclitaxel (PTX) is an anti-microtubule agent, used for the treatment of various types of cancers; however, it produces painful neuropathy which limits its use. Many neuroprotective agents have been introduced to mitigate PTX-induced neuropathic pain (PINP), but they pose many adverse effects. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the pharmacological characteristics of soy isoflavone, and daidzein (DZ) in attenuating PINP.

Rapidly increasing global warming and world population calls for exploring untapped elements of biodiversity in a much broader sense. Though there exists much evidence on the importance of livestock and animal-derived protein, escalating challenges related to sustainability have led to finding alternatives to animal-derived proteins. Mycoprotein is an eco-friendly sustainable product.

Objective: The study was aimed at investigating contributing factors affecting treatment outcomes in HIV-/TB-coinfected patients.
Among 145 chest wall perforator flaps (CWPFs) performed at City Hospital, Birmingham (September 2017-February 2022), 11 were for novel indications, four were for whole breast reconstructions, two were for implant salvage procedures, three were CWPFs with skin paddle to replace excised skin/nipple-areola complex, and two were for upper inner quadrant tumours. Tumour characteristics and post-operative complications were noted. Patient-reported outcomes measures (PROMs) were measured using a questionnaire adapted from the National Mastectomy and Breast Reconstruction Audit (NMBRA) study.

The prepared formulations were evaluated for entrapment efficiency (EE%), loading efficiency (LE%), particle size and swelling studies. The performance efficiency was assessed by in vitro drug release, ex-vivo mucoadhesion, permeability, ex-in vivo swelling and in vivo anti-inflammatory studies.

This systematic review identifies DHIs for postoperative monitoring and evaluates their readiness for implementation into routine health care. Studies were defined according to idea, development, exploration, assessment, and long-term follow-up (IDEAL) stages of innovation.

Multiple models attempt to predict survival following the resection of PDAC, but their utility in the neoadjuvant population is unknown. We aimed to assess their accuracy among patients that received neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC).

Results: Twenty-three studies met the inclusion criteria (7 randomized and 16 nonrandomized studies). We analyzed 9,202 patients, including 4,390 in the exposed group and 4,812 in the unexposed group (894 in placebo and 3,918 in no ASM groups).
Objective To determine the clinical and biochemical predictors of mortality in patients with dengue fever. Methods This was an analytical, cross-sectional study conducted at Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar, Pakistan. The study participants were patients admitted to the hospital for the management of dengue fever.

The activation and chemical impressions along with effects of thermophoretic and Brownian motion are as well examined. The flow symmetry of the problem is modeled mathematically and leading equations are rehabilitated into nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) through the assistance of suitable similarity variables.

Microchannels have been utilized to develop new diagnostic assays, examine cell adhesion and molecular transport, and replicate the fluid flow microenvironment of the circulatory system. The various uses of MHD boundary flow in engineering and technology are extensive, ranging from MHD power generators and the polymer industry to MHD flow meters and pumps and the spinning of filaments.

The objective of this scoping review was to explore studies implementing this model of care.
Methods: Four electronic databases were searched from 01/01/2000-31/03/2022 using three main concepts (RA, shared care, patient-initiated follow-up).
Objective: Unstructured data present in electronic health records (EHR) are a rich source of medical information; however, their abstraction is labor intensive. Automated EHR phenotyping (AEP) can reduce the need for manual chart review. We present an AEP model that is designed to automatically identify patients diagnosed with epilepsy.

Specifically, the application of systems thinking has proven to be beneficial when applied to health systems. Although there is plenty of theory surrounding systems thinking, there is a gap between the theoretical use of systems thinking and its actual application to tackle health challenges.

Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Participants: Patients with open-globe injury repairs (OGRs) were identified by Current Procedural Terminology codes (65275, 65280, 65285, 65286, 65235, 65260, and 65265) from 2014 through 2018 in the IRIS Registry.
α-Synucleinopathies, such as Parkinson's disease (PD), dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and multiple system atrophy, are a class of neurodegenerative diseases exhibiting intracellular inclusions of misfolded α-synuclein (αSyn), referred to as Lewy bodies or oligodendroglial cytoplasmic inclusions (Papp-Lantos bodies). Even though the specific cellular distribution of aggregated αSyn differs in PD and DLB patients, both groups show a significant pathological overlap, raising the discussion of whether PD and DLB are the same or different diseases. Besides clinical investigation, we will focus in addition on methodologies, such as protein seeding assays (real-time quaking-induced conversion), to discriminate between different types of α-synucleinopathies.

Background: Single lactate measurements have been reported to have prognostic significance, however, there is a lack of data in local literature from Pakistan. This study was done to determine prognostic role of lactate clearance in sepsis patients being managed in our lower-middle income country.
Methods: This prospective cohort study was conducted from September 2019-February 2020 at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi.
Background And Objectives: Seizures (SZs) and other SZ-like patterns of brain activity can harm the brain and contribute to in-hospital death, particularly when prolonged. However, experts qualified to interpret EEG data are scarce. Prior attempts to automate this task have been limited by small or inadequately labeled samples and have not convincingly demonstrated generalizable expert-level performance.

Outside of clinical trials, neurologic outcomes must typically be extracted by labor intensive manual review of clinical notes in the electronic health record (EHR). To overcome this challenge, we set out to develop a natural language processing (NLP) approach that automatically reads clinical notes to determine neurologic outcomes, to make it possible to conduct larger scale neurologic outcomes studies.

Topical cariostatic agents have become a reasonable alternative for managing dental caries in young children. Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is a practical topical approach to arrest caries and avoid extensive and risky dental treatment. However, the literature demonstrates a parental hesitation towards accepting SDF because of black unaesthetic tooth discolouration following application.
