Introduction: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is known to be a marker of mortality in patients with cirrhosis and variceal hemorrhage.

Aim: To study the effect of AKI on hospital-based outcomes in patients with variceal hemorrhage.

Material And Methods: We obtained data from the National Inpatient Sample for the years 2016-2018.

Photoacoustic microscopy (PAM) is a high-resolution imaging modality that has been mainly implemented with small field of view applications. Here, we developed a fast PAM system that utilizes a unique spiral laser scanning mechanism and a wide acoustic detection unit. The developed system can image an area of 12.

Nanofluids and nanotechnology are very important in enhancing heat transfer due to the thermal conductivity of their nanoparticles, which play a vital role in heat transfer applications. Researchers have used cavities filled with nanofluids for two decades to increase the heat-transfer rate. This review also highlights a variety of theoretical and experimentally measured cavities by exploring the following parameters: the significance of cavities in nanofluids, the effects of nanoparticle concentration and nanoparticle material, the influence of the inclination angle of cavities, heater and cooler effects, and magnetic field effects in cavities.

Silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) are most effective against pathogens and have widely been studied as antibacterial agents in commodity clothing, medical textile, and other hygiene products. However, prolonged utilization of silver and rapid mutation in bacterium stains has made them resistant to conventional silver agents. On the other hand, strict compliance against excessive utilization of toxic reagents and the current sustainability drive is forcing material synthesis toward green routes with extended functionality.

This research was conducted in the urban area of Patna region, the capital and largest city of Bihar, which is part of the Indo-Gangetic alluvium plain. This study aims to identify the sources and processes controlling groundwater's hydrochemical evolution in the Patna region's urban area. In this research, we evaluated the interplay between several measures of groundwater quality, the various possible causes of groundwater pollution, and the resulting health risks.

Due to the diverse and rich taxa, Asteraceae needs to explore from the untouched area. In this study, the pollen study was intended to assess the taxonomic value for Asteraceous taxa growing on the Sikaram Mountain Pak-Afghan border. Both microscopic techniques (LM and SEM) play a significant role in the identification and classification of herbaceous species of Asteraceae for their taxonomic and systematic implication.

Introduction: Protocadherin-19 (PCDH19)-clustering epilepsy is a distinct developmental and epileptic encephalopathy characterized by early-onset seizures that are often treatment refractory. Caused by a mutation of the PCDH19 gene on the X chromosome, this rare epilepsy syndrome primarily affects females with seizure onset commonly in the first year of life. A global, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 2 trial was conducted to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of ganaxolone compared with placebo as adjunctive therapy to a standard antiseizure medication regimen in patients with PCDH19-clustering epilepsy (VIOLET; NCT03865732).

Background: Haemorrhoids are very common but their exact prevalence is not known as most of the people suffering from them do not seek medical or surgical advice. The literature states their prevalence to be about 39% and commonly affect people aged between 45-65 years of age. Objective of the study was to compare the outcomes of open haemorrhoidectomy Vs Trans anal Doppler ultrasound guided hemorrhoidal artery ligation with recto-anal repair in 3rd and 4th degree haemorrhoids.

To improve currently available cancer treatments, nanomaterials are employed as smart drug delivery vehicles that can be engineered to locally target cancer cells and respond to stimuli. Nanocarriers can entrap chemotherapeutic drugs and deliver them to the diseased site, reducing the side effects associated with the systemic administration of conventional anticancer drugs. Upon accumulation in the tumor cells, the nanocarriers need to be potentiated to release their therapeutic cargo.

Background: KIF6 (kinesin family member 6), a protein coded by the gene, serves an important intracellular function to transport organelles along microtubules. In a pilot study, we found that a common Trp719Arg variant increased the propensity of thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAA) to suffer dissection (AD). The present study aims for a definite investigation of the predictive ability of 719Arg vis à vis AD.

Article Synopsis
  • Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a condition involving decreased platelet production or damage, commonly treated with steroids, IVIG, and anti-D antibodies.
  • Many patients do not respond well to initial treatments, leading to second-line options like splenectomy, rituximab, and tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).
  • A review of 4 clinical trials found that TKIs like fostamatinib, rilzabrutinib, and HMPL-523 showed safety and effectiveness, with varying response rates and minimal serious adverse effects reported.
