Objective: To review the available literature on variant genital gender-affirming surgery (GGAS), including the reasons for performing it, the surgeries themselves and their outcomes.
Methods: A systematic review on the performance of variant GGAS was conducted (International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews [PROSPERO] identifier: CRD42022306684) researching PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane databases from inception up to 31 December 2023. Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines were followed, and risk of bias was assessed for each study using the five-criteria quality assessment checklist.

Human eye fixation is steadily interrupted by small, physiological or abnormal, eye movements. Square-wave jerks (SWJ) are the most common saccadic intrusion which can be readily seen at the bedside and also quantified using oculographic techniques. Various neurological, neuropsychiatric and psychiatric disorders display abnormal fixational eye movement patterns characterized by frequent SWJ.

Methods: A broad literature search was performed for each condition. Recommendations were developed and rated as strong or weak on the basis of the quality of the evidence, the benefit/harm ratio, and potential patient preferences.
Background And Objective: The prescriptive literature on vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) is still limited and thus the level of evidence is generally low. The aim of these guidelines is to provide a practical approach to the treatment of VUR that is based on risk analysis and selective indications for both diagnostic tests and interventions. We provide a 2023 update on the chapter on VUR in children from the European Association of Urology (EAU) and European Society for Paediatric Urology (ESPU) guidelines.

In infants, open surgery with reimplantation of a grossly dilated ureter into a small bladder, can be technically challenging with significant morbidity. Therefore, less invasive endoscopic management such as dilatation or incision of the ureter-vesical junction, has emerged as an alternative to reimplantation during the last decades.

We applied two navigation tasks on a rotating chair in the dark: return-to-start (RTS), where subjects drive the chair back to the origin after discrete angular displacement stimuli (path reversal), and complete-the-circle (CTC) where subjects drive the chair on, all the way round to origin (path completion). We examined 24 normal controls (20-83 yr), five patients with DBN (62-77 yr) and, as proof of principle, two patients with early dementia (84 and 76 yr).

ITPR1 gene variants, through a loss-of-function mechanism, have been found to be related with the manifestation of spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA) 15, an adult-onset slow progressive cerebellar ataxia, SCA 29, a rare non-progressive congenital cerebellar ataxia and Gillepsie syndrome (SCA 29 phenotype plus aniridia). They share an heterogeneity of additional phenotypic features while no genotype-phenotype correlation has ever been found.

Study Design: Cross-sectional prospective study.
Setting: Tertiary referral center.
When a body is decomposed, hard tissues such as teeth may provide the only DNA source for human identification. There is currently no consensus as to the best DNA extraction method, and there is a lack of empirical data regarding tooth morphotype and condition that may impact DNA recovery. Therefore, this study sought to investigate which variables significantly improved DNA concentration, integrity and profiling success.

However, postural control has not been studied quantitatively. Here, we quantified upright stance and aimed to disentangle the role of vestibular, proprioceptive and oculomotor deficits.

Apart from bladder tumour multiplicity, size, stage, grade and presence of cis, early recurrence following white light TURBT for new bladder tumours is also determined by surgeon experience, completeness of resection and presence or absence of detrusor muscle in the specimen. This study aims to validate surgeon experience and detrusor muscle as independent predictors of early recurrence following apparently complete white light TURBT in new bladder tumours.
Objective: To validate in patients undergoing first transurethral resection of bladder tumour (TURBT) for non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), the presence/absence of detrusor muscle (DM) in the specimen and surgeon experience as independent predictors of the quality of TURBT.
Bladder outflow obstruction is a very common age-related clinical entity due to a variety of benign and malignant diseases of the prostate. Surgical treatment under general or regional anesthesia is not suitable for high-risk elderly patients who seek minimally invasive management. Unfortunately, for patients who are not fit for transurethral and/or laser prostatectomy, few treatment options remain, other than long-term catheterization and insertion (under local anesthesia) of a prostatic stent.

Methods: A high-volume tertiary center's prospectively maintained prostate biopsy database of contemporary biopsies was reviewed. Men were stratified by age and PSA.
Background: An European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer analysis of multicentre trials found significant interinstitutional variability in recurrence rates at first follow-up cystoscopy (RR-FFC) and attributed this to variable transurethral resection of bladder tumour (TURBT) quality.
Objective: To determine whether resection of detrusor muscle (DM) in the first, apparently complete TURBT is a surrogate marker of quality and whether the presence of DM is dependent on a surgeon's experience.
Design, Setting, And Participants: Over a 2-yr period, patients with new bladder tumours that were judged to have been completely resected were recruited from our prospectively maintained bladder tumour database.
