Article Synopsis
  • Observing others perform a skill can lead to over-confidence in one's own abilities, as learners miss out on their own sensory feedback.
  • Motor imagery (MI), or mentally rehearsing the skill, may provide a better understanding of one's capabilities compared to just action observation (AO).
  • A study indicated that while confidence increased for both groups after observation, those who also practiced MI showed less confidence compared to those who only observed, suggesting MI helps improve self-assessment of motor skills.
